Make sure to put on an oven mitt before you begin. As a family, this is a very useful tool, since my husband absolutely loves grilling corn on the cob with extra virgin olive oil and spices. Due to sensitive teeth, I find it difficult to eat corn on the cob, but I enjoy the way he prepares Fortunately, he is also happy with grilled corn off the cob now that he has this zipper!
It is only possible to boil corn with the holders attached if you are boiling the ears. Designed to hold high quality food, the holders are made of stainless steel. Although they are made of plastic, they are not cookware, and will melt if exposed to high temperatures, such as from a broiler, air fryer, or barbecue grill. The boiling temperature of water will not exceed 212 degrees Fahrenheit and is not a concern. Grilled corn is, in fact, our favorite, and the holders are the last thing to fix when it's time to eat. I have no problem with that. You can't go wrong with these holders!
For removing corn from the cob, this is without a doubt the best tool! There are several different tools we have tried, but none work as well as "the zipper". This tool enables us to cut through at least ten dozen turkeys a year, for the freezer, and every year it takes us This is a highly recommended book.

As you know, I will not usually write reviews, but I had to purchase this tool after reading all the rave reviews here. It might be because we grow big corn here in Nebraska, so the opening is not designed to cut off the entire kernal. Many tries failed to get the plastic handle to hold the cutter piece. When I do a lot of sweet corn, I am going to use my electric knife. Don't waste your money.
I have tried various products for removing the kernels from the cob but was not successful. A sweet corn farm directly across the street from our house grows some of the best sweet corn in Ohio, so I always freeze a bunch to enjoy throughout The tool itself is just fantastic - it really does all the work for you. I highly recommend this tool. It is easy to use and removes the kernels perfectly without waste.
It was almost two years ago that I purchased my first Rikon Corn Zipper. I have since bought two more as gifts and added a second zipper to my collection so as to ensure my collection doesn't disappear. In my kitchen, I pressure can, freeze and dehydrate approximately 500 ears of corn every year, and anything that isn't sustainable does not belong there. The zippers I have tried have all fallen apart after a few It looked as if it could possibly work when I saw it and I gave it a shot. We have put a new speed on corn shucking, and it works great-my husband can shuck and zip 3 ears of corn faster than I can. An example would be the hair part. The situation is I guess there is still a little city girl in me *lol* It works so effortlessly and requires such little force, that my mother-in-law with severe arthritis is able to zip corn for the first time when she has pain in her hands. As soon as I have given her a zipper, she tried to steal it! Neither of the kids whack off their fingers or toes using it and they do a good There is actually a zipper that works beautifully, it it quick and easy to clean, and it comes in very handy if anyone in your family wears braces or dentures!! Over 750 ears have been covered by my original zipper, and it is still in perfect shape. In my opinion, I would not put this in a dishwasher. It is a fact that dishwashing machines have a bad habit of decreasing the useful life of items like this due to harsh detergents, high temps or the possibility of items not drying completely during the cycle.
The bag was so great that I wanted to have an extra zipper, so I went back to my favorite place (Amazon) and ordered it. I would like to grab at least one. Choosing one of these would be a good idea. Your decision will not be regrettable.
Please take care! Be careful not to touch the button with your fingers! My method for corncob stripping was to hold the tip of the corncob in the center of a bundt pan I had placed in a large jellyroll pan to catch the corn as I stripped it. The larger the pan, the easier it will be to clean! Since it creates quite a mess around the pan, the larger the pan, the better. On YouTube, I saw a demonstration of this and it did what it was shown to do!.
This is fantastic! A sharp knife is used to cut about an inch off the end of very fresh sweet corn, to boil it in the husk for 5 minutes, to quench in cold water and then to remove the husk and silk Using a 24 inch by 3 inch 1 by 3, attach a double row of roofing nails to it so the corn cob can be held put this on the counter with an under pan to catch the corn cob With the very sharp spring steel blade, the zipper neatly shaves off the corn kernels by pulling that corn zipper down across the corn and securing it on the row of nails. There is actually a spacer blade that determines the appropriate depth, and it works like I like the ergonomics and comfort of the handle. This corn stripper can neatly strip an ear in less than a minute! A bushel can be done in 45 minutes or so. Another couple of designs were ordered, but they were never used. It is a clear winner, particularly with the jig used to secure the ears and the method by which the ears were prepped.
I found it so easy to use, and it got the job done quickly and without any I removed a couple of ears of corn from their cobs while they were still on their cobs, and I wasn't able to clean them A new counter should be set up - Atop the wall, floor, or top of the ceiling. As I was collecting the kernels, they all fell into the bowl I was using to collect I highly recommend the Corn Zipper by Kuhn Rikon because it is a very experienced home cook's favorite.
Compared to the bayonet type I used previously, these are far better. As far as I am concerned, bayonet types are In the majority of cases, the first use of that type broke the device.
