You can remove the magnetic mount and attach it to your wall with Velcro instead of screwing it into place (mine was permanently attached to my wall with Velcro) because it's magnetic. After that is done, you carefully reattach the "wood" bar and it snaps into position. The magnet is very powerful so make sure you watch your fingers! In other words, yes, you can definitely mount it directly. *br> *br> The only thing I would point out is the Wüsthof logo would be sideways if you did this.
If you are interested in wood, I believe there are three types of it.
This is not something I'd With my expensive knives on it, I have tried mounting it twice with exterior mounting tape and it has fallen off the wall twice. We were lucky that nothing was damaged.

The clear plastic tabs on the mount plating are for pulling apart the magnet from the mounting plate. I didn't realize they were there. They were very difficult to separate as the magnet is very strong and had to be cut along the lines first and then later removed with a flathead screwdriver. Despite the fact that it looks like it's a part of my range, it's totally awesome. Maybe I can send some instructions to the company just to let them know that I am planning on sending something.
The magnetic bar and best knives we could find helped us make this investment. My heart melts for all of them. I love the way it looks, and it was easy to hang.
A pretty easy surface to scratch. I like how it's the perfect size and how it looks. It has a specific spot where the knives must be placed in order to work.
On white subway tiles, my kitchen has two bars mounted that hold all the knives I have. They look awesome and keep my hands free.
Knives are held securely in place. If it weren't for the fact that it scratches easily, I would have given it five stars. Sharp objects should not be scratched so easily on products that are made to hold them.
The fact that it didn't need to be hung on the wall was pleasant. By getting rid of the block, we were able to open up the counter space.
I really like the look of this. Keep the knives firmly in your hand.
