Global G Series Knives Global 12 in. Yanagi Sashimi - Sushi Knife G-14, Stainless Steel

It arrived dull, heavy, and wide, and I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, this is the first time I've been dissatisfied with a Global product. br>To begin with, it arrived extremely dull. This surprised me because I'd grown accustomed to Globals being razor-sharp right out of the box. But that was no problem; I had it sharpened professionally (stone, single bevel). br>During the pitifully brief period when the knife was sharp and usable, I noticed a few other design flaws. For starters, the knife is quite heavy (be careful if you're expecting a quick, graceful yanagi). Second, it's quite large-- It's so wide that instead of sliding through food like a good slicer, it wedges itself into it. Overall, I don't think this is a good idea. It appears to be a hastily put-together piece of work. Global's already impressive lineup gets a boost with this new addition.
