Is it true that it can be stored in the freezer? Because the glass was thicker than my Mr. coffee pot and the mason jar had cracked, I poured hot water into it. ?

That is how science works. Glass will crack if it is quickly frozen from a hot state. Before putting it in the fridge or freezer, allow it to cook for a few minutes.

Is there any plastic in the canning cap?

"NO" is the answer to the question. The canning cap is a medal cap with a rubber washer for sealing purposes on the inside!

This jar only holds 12 ounces if you're looking for a 16-ounce jar. I'm not sure if they believe that filling the jar to the brim will yield 16 ounces, but if that's the case, it's a sham.

, but it's close enough. I should have paid more attention, but I had faith in their marketing. This is a 12-piece set. It's a 16-ounce jar, not an 8-ounce jar. I was let down.

Ball Lids are the way to go

Have a backup supply of lids on hand if you're canning with these. In the hot water bath, four of the six lids buckled. Ball Sure Tight lids were used in the end.
