BEWARE, it keeps your alcoholic beverage warm, but it is not as good as it looks. As I lifted my mug for the first time, I put my fingers on the bottom and ended up burning. There was no way I could stand the heat! If you know what I mean, I don't mean hot, but hot glue gun glue (if you get what I mean)! A blister is on each of my three fingers! It is very dangerous to have kids around the heater as it is extremely hot. Although I've had mug heaters in the past, this is the hottest one yet. You can use it, but you should use it carefully.

If you place the cup on a flat surface, it is very hard to get the light to turn on

It is not stable with a heavy ceramic mug on top of it, so I will probably return Another one I have is flat and works perfectly near my computer, so I know the surface is completely flat. Shorting it out causes it to act as if something is going on. It should be turned on when it is placed on the circle, and the light should be on while it is there. The idea that it cuts on and off repeatedly is also not ideal, as it takes a lot more time to warm up over and over every time the cup is lifted, rather than maintaining For me, it would be better if I turned it off and on and, if I took the cup with me while doing some chores around the house and drank from it, I would like it hot again when I placed it back.

I really like this mug warmer because it keeps my coffee warm and it puts out a lot of heat! I do not recommend this model because, if something were to lay on it and activate the heat sensor (by weight), it does get pretty hot. I unplug it at the end of each day when I stop for coffee and once I leave the office I double check that it is unplugged.
