The country of origin is China, and I looked for a while to see if there were any made in the United States. These were the best design; I'm very pleased with them, and despite being Chinese, they are of good quality. They're hygienic and simple to take out of jars.
The glass is made in China and has passed numerous quality and safety inspections, including the following: Wal-Mart audit, IKEA IWAY audit Audits of supermarkets, Target stores, and Coca-Cola companies have all been conducted. TCCC audits for Coca-Cola, Nescafe SEDEX audits for Nescafe, BSCI audits for BSCI, and so on.
At the moment, no, but we hope to have them made in the United States soon. Thanks!
On the bottom, it's completely flat! They are fantastic!
Selected User Reviews For Premium Hand-Crafted Glass Fermentation Weights with Easy Handle for Wide Mouth Mason Jar Fermenting Sauerkraut, Pickles, Kimchi and More Home Fermented Foods 3 pack (New & Improved) 7.1oz
There are two parts to this review: br>1) The product is well-made, well-packaged, and easy to use and understand, all of which are important. Here's a five-star review. br>2) In terms of width, they are a good fit for the 16oz wide mouth ball mason. When using this product with Eden's House fermenting lids, however, you'll quickly notice that you lose about 8oz of space between the weight's handle, the fermenting lid's valve, and the space you need to leave at the top of the jar so water doesn't come out of the top of the valve when sucking air out. br>br>I'll get the 32oz wide mouth ball mason jar no problem. For the amount of food I want to ferment, I only need about 24 ounces. The 32oz ball mason jar, on the other hand, has a much more rectangular body than the 16oz. If you chop your fermented food, some of it may fall through the cracks in the fermenting weight. In short, it won't fit in 16oz ball mason jars with an Eden's House fermenting lid on top, and it won't fit in 32oz ball mason jars from a width standpoint.
I tried every single one of them. There are a variety of glass weights available, some of which are better than others. This is why I adore them the most. br>br>* the nob on top is actually functional. You can grab it and lift the weight of your ferment off your shoulders. br>br>* The weights are made of full-thickness solid glass. There is no well or indentation on the top of the container to collect the liquid. br>br>* sufficiently heavy to keep everything submerged br>br>I'll be ordering another set in the near future. They're also easy to store when they're not in use because of the packaging. sufficient to say.
For $17, Knob handles are far superior. 99 of these 6 weights are ideal. br>I also adore the packaging, which includes a small bubble bag for each glass.
1 and 7. 2 ounces. With fingers or tongs, you can easily grasp the top knob. An X-shape, which I haven't seen on other weights, is a nice feature that I haven't seen on others. On the top of the knob, there is a shaped indentation. This indentation will prevent the knob from blocking the silicone valve in the center of the lid if you use waterless airlock fermentation lids and slightly overfill your jars, which is something I've heard people complain about with weights that don't have this feature. These are the weights I'll buy again if I need more.
When I contacted the seller about a chipped handle on one of the weights, it made my shopping experience even better. They quickly responded and sent me a replacement as well as two fermentation lids, which are an excellent product that I have recently purchased for the third time. Furthermore, I believe the 6-point scale is a good starting point. For similar products, the pack is the best value for money.
Because I'm using fermentation lids, I wanted a little room for expansion, so I bought the little handle. It takes up a little space, so I can't pack the jar as tightly as before, but it's worth it. br>br>When I got my order, one of the weights had a defect on the bottom that could have trapped a small amount of air. I contacted Eden Farmhouse and received a response within hours, as well as a replacement for the defective weight within days. br>br>The customer service was excellent, and I was impressed by their commitment to complete customer satisfaction.
A gallon glass jar with a wide mouth allows for more consistency. Although I had hoped to find some made in the United States, I figured these would suffice. They are of excellent quality, clear, heavy, with no air pockets, and a good quantity for the price. Most importantly, my sauerkraut was more consistent throughout the jar, and it was possibly the best batch yet! I cut a large slice off the end of the cabbage and placed it on top of the sauerkraut, but under the weight, to keep the small pieces from floating upward in the brine. Of course, I thoroughly cleaned them before using them. I'm really pleased with how much better my recipe turned out after using these.
This is the second type of glass weight that I use, and it is by far the best! I say this because of the handle. You can try lifting the glass weights with finger grooves, but you'll quickly realize that the product with a handle is the one you should have purchased.
