Questions & Answers
Consider a question that is unusual. If you're perched precariously, I predict a lot of packers.
Thank you for contacting us and alerting us to this listing error. The Pickle Packer is a two-person team. At the wide end, it's 5" wide, and at the narrow end, it's 2". It fits well inside the opening of a wide mouth mason jar at one end, and well inside the opening of a regular mouth mason jar at the other. Please accept our sincere apologies for the error in the lengthy description; we will correct it as soon as possible.
The Pickle Packer isn't better than a $1 dowel in terms of performance. The Packer has a 2-inch diameter and lasts a long time in terms of efficiency and durability. 1/2 of an inch This implies two things: In any given job, half the speed. Last but not least, the wood material is more durable and does not impart a flavor to the food. physics. When you're trying to fill a jar with a 1-pound jar, you'll notice that it's impossible. Because the surface area of a 1-inch dowel is so small, a lot of force is applied. A single inch is insufficient. You're taking a chance of shattering the window.
As long as the oil is intended for use with food utensils, it should be both safe and beneficial. It will aid in the preservation of the wood. My wooden salad bowls and servers are treated with mineral oil.

Although the photos make it appear that this packer is made of solid wood, it is actually made up of multiple layers that have been glued together. There were defects in the wood that were filled with wood glue in an attempt to hide the flaws! The seams had not been completely filled. I emailed the seller, and despite the fact that they did not respond, I received a replacement. It's still made up of several pieces that have been glued together, but it's much better finished than the first one.
I can't trust this product because I don't want an unknown substance to dissolve into my food.
The wood splits right out of the box! Quality assurance is lacking. I immediately began displaying this wood tamper because the color is fantastic and the finish is silky smooth. However, given the high price tag, I wasn't expecting the wood to split right away. Please see the photos that are attached. br>I guess I'll have to start turning some black walnut and use this one as a very expensive template. You should save your money and look for something else to do with it.
This MASONTOPS PICKLE PACKER, made of acacia wood, is so lovely that it could be used as a work of art on a desk or bookshelf. The wood is extremely hard, dense, and smooth, with beautiful graining. br>br>I bought mine to use in a mason jar to tamp down homemade sauerkraut. It's ideal for that, as well as any other jar-related task. If you're canning at home, you might run into a packing task. On a countertop, the tamper is by itself. It comes in two varieties. sized ends, suitable for reaching into jar mouths of various sizes. br>br>The tamper should not be washed in the dishwasher. It's washed by hand and hung to dry. It's also a good idea to oil it every now and then (using a food-safe oil). grade oil), just as you would with other wooden kitchen utensils (e. g. , spoons, forks, and spoon rests). Cutting boards, for example).
This is a good-looking wooden item of good quality. After a few batches in which I pounded the living daylights out of a cabbage before packing it, I realized that I don't care for pounded kraut and would rather have it crispy like a vegetable rather than a condiment. The pickle packer works great for packing things into jars, and the two ends fit the two standard jar mouth sizes perfectly.
It was a lot faster than the old wooden spoon I was using before. More efficient, attractive, smooth, well-finished wood that is pleasant to hold and use. It pounded the cabbage quickly enough to break the cells open and turn it into kraut! The tool's two ends - are two distinct sizes; the larger round end for jars with a wider mouth, Smaller ones will benefit from the narrower end. ) The edges are softly rounded and smooth. Love it!.
The product arrived in perfect condition and was delivered on time. I bought it to tamp down cabbage before putting it in a mason jar to ferment into sauerkraut. This item served its purpose admirably. While I was using it, it felt very natural in my hand. It can be used in both regular and wide mouth canning jars because each end is different in size. It was easy to wash and dry by hand. Before putting it away, I oiled it with some food-grade oil. If you wish, it can be stored standing up. I'm not one to go out and buy "gadgets" for tasks when I already have something that will suffice. But, compared to my wooden spoon, this is a huge improvement, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.
When I placed my order, I took out my ruler and measured the length against the specifications. It appeared to be long enough for my crock to fit into. Not so! As soon as you begin tamping down the cabbage, it vanishes inside the crock. If you're going to use it with a crock, don't bother; it's far too short; however, it would be perfect for mason jars. If that's the only reason you're buying it, it's probably a good investment, though there are several other free alternatives. br> One of the reasons I bought it was because of the lovely wood, but it appeared to be better in the photo, possibly because they used something to finish it. It was drab and of lower quality than I had anticipated.
