Questions & Answers

Is there a place I can go to find these weights? I did not receive any weights with mine. ?

If you would like weights to be mailed to you, please ask the seller to do so. When I was a kid, I used large amounts of salt in double ziplock bags.

When I fill up my brine basin, why does the crock syphon the water out of the reservoir?

There is another brand of water moat crock that I have, not this one. As the temperature drops at night, I have found that the water in the moat disappears. In reading, I discovered that when the temperature drops, it is sucked back into the crock, which is why it is wise to use brine instead of plain water in the moat.

Can this product be used to make wine? I have a broken crock for wine and I ferment a great deal. I was wondering if this would be of dual use?

I guess as long as you're interested in "small batch" wines, it shouldn't be too hard. Basic crocks usually hold no more than two liters of liquid.

My curiosity about the weighted stones led me to receive this as a gift. A lot of ridges and cracks appear on them. What are the safety concerns for fermenting this?

The answer is yes, they are They serve exactly the purpose for which they were designed. After you've finished using them, you can wash them with soap and water.

Selected User Reviews For Fermentation Crock Jar 2 Liter - Stoneware Pot for Fermenting or Pickling Kimchi, Sauerkraut, Pickles, Vegetables, Kombucha - 1/2 Gallon Ceramic Fermenter with Weights, Lid and Pounder

The crock is so lovely! Are you required to use a crock pot to make sauerkraut or ferment other vegetables? Not at all
5/5

This is the batch of sauerkraut I made in a 2 quart saucepan. The following items are needed a 7 liter pyrex bowl, a small plate, and a small cup Using a bowl for keeping the water submerged as well as a cup towel to cover it. As the sauerkraut fermented, I decided to make one of my own vessels for the purpose. As I was looking through Amazon, I decided to go with this one since it is small and easy to carry.

I read all reviews before deciding & decided to go with it. It concerns me that you put the 1 and the 2 in the same sentence Reviewers gave it two stars. am not sure I remember all, but they were almost all concerned with the quality of the ship. A well-crafted one like mine is hard to come by. It is actually a very intelligent design, considering that it is old. On top of the crock, where the top fits, there is a moat. Your veggies will gas off and you will be protected from outside contamination if you keep the moat filled with water. As the inside of the body is filled with gases, it bubbles Contaminants from outside can't get into the building. It's necessary to keep an eye on the moat water because it will evaporate. There is plenty of room to fit the weigh down stones within the crock that holds 2 liters of product. There is currently a batch of fermenting kimchee in my fridge. Everything is working well since it has been up and running for 5 days now. produces enough product to fill If you are like me and don't need a large crock because you have a bumper crop of cabbage from your garden, but simply want to ferment the veggies in the fridge and want to experiment with different kinds of fermented veggies, this small crock is what you need. Please note the crock was damaged when I received it, so I gave it a one-star review. As a customer of Amazon since it was a book store, I have shopped there. This retailer offers one of the easiest and most generous return policies I've ever come across. You pack it in the box, print out the label, tape it to the box, take it to an UPS store, and they will exchange it for you. That's all there is to it.

This is worth the time and effort

With a lid and a water-filled container, you can make ferments When fermenting, a crock with a filled rim is the best. For your own use, a 2 liter crock will suffice. However, when fermenting for the family or for large amounts of vegetables, a 5 liter crock is best. The first batch of my work is finished. Garlic cloves, cauliflower, carrots, and red onions are all chopped and used as parts of this dish. During the second fermentation period, I let it sit for two weeks. We allowed the fermented vegetables to ferment for 5 weeks and then placed them in jars The first thing I did was chop the vegetables, insert the crock into the pot, add the salted water, and I ended up with almost a full pot. It will take me about a month to ferment another batch in a Mason jar. This book is highly.

This is a great product

However, the instructions could have included some more information regarding fermentation. If the stones are about 2 inches away from the lip, then the contents should be kept about 2 inches away. Keeping the moat full of water is also important. There'll be no need for it. Sauerkraut is best made by putting full cabbage leaves on top of the mixture before adding the stones to make sure all the ingredients are submerged.

The perfect size for a small job, it holds enough cabbage for one good size head. No matter if you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, this is the perfect tool.

I picked cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes in this container
5/5

This is a must for anyone who pickles. A glass container with a rubber seal lid was my former container before purchasing this one. Pickling times varied from 3 days to up to a week, but the results were good. The results I get after three days are consistent with this jar. I like how the pickles have the right amount of sourness and how the cucumbers still retain their crunch. This is the best jar I have ever had.

My elderly father was thrilled to get this
5/5

Got this as a surprise gift for him the next day. He was overjoyed with the size. He had purchased a cabbage to ferment in a quart jar at the same time. Upon receiving the crock, he was very pleased with the size and said he would use it I have been informed that the load was simple and that he is looking forward to his first batch. Rather than an open top with a plate and rock like most of the ones he grew up with, he thought that it was brilliant to have a water trough.

This is an excellent product that wouldn't waste time or money buying another one
3/5

The recipie for kimchi I use has worked for me for several years without any problems at all. The crock I bought has only been used twice and I had to toss it both times due to mold growth. I am not satisfied with the result, as it was a complete waste of food and effort. I am afraid of using the crock again. I was unable to find any support from the manufacturer. My mind is blown and I'm angry to the core! We'll be using canning jars and ziplock bags, plus rubber bands and coffee filters! I love it because it is so much cheaper and it does the job!.
