Questions & Answers

Can quarters fit into this one? I was wondering if it would be convenient for coin collecting? Is that all?

You should never collect coins in large glass jars or bottles -- If the bottom is covered with a large number of coins, the weight of the coins causes the whole bottom to crack, making it unsafe/dangerous. THE FIRST TIME I LOSE TWO IS JUGS FOR GALLONS.

Is there anyone who can tell me where this carboy is made? Please accept my sincere thanks. ?

It was a pleasure shopping with you. We make all of our jugs in the United States.

What is the best way to clean these out so they can be used ?

Bottle brushes are the best to use. you can use CBrite or what ever cleaning solution you like.

When the airlock is in place, how tall is it?

It was a pleasure shopping with you. There are 18 to 20 feet of height total This 1/4in airlock and stopper is sealed with a 1/4in airlock.

I am very pleased with my I was extremely pleased with the packaging
5/5

The first brew I have made with them has been started It initially looked like the stoppers kept slipping out of the carboys due to a moist interior of the neck and the stopper. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that the interior was also wet. Drying both parts was able to resolve this issue. My issue is out of the way, and I am glad that I debugged it before I wrote another review There is a high likelihood that the problem is due to user error or lazy behavior. In the future, I intend to buy a few more units.

There is an issue with the stopper and the airlock
3/5

This bottle had the stoppers and the twin bubble airlocks. I bought two of them to brew mead. We received the bottles at the expected time and The glass is nice and thick and the handle is sturdy. The issue has not arisen As it turned out, "Twin bubble airlocks" weren't included in the package. bought a few of the cheaper single chamber types, which again, are not terribly difficult to use since they fit securely into the stoppers and will keep bacteria at bay. It is unfortunate that the rubber stoppers included do not fit snugly in the opening of the bottle. The bottle was filled with all the ingredients and when I went to insert the stopper, it almost fit all the way into the bottle when I pushed it in by hand. The stopper started to come out as soon as I released my pressure. No matter what the stopper is inserted into, the bottle does not seal. The bottle literally just has it sitting on top of it. It falls out if there is any jostling, tilting, or pressure in any way. If I place a book on top of my bottle, I would be able to get a better seal. I left it to sit in a corner until I can go get some balloons. I need an airlock inserted and the ingredients are already mixed, so I do not have time to wait for another suitable alternative. I am leaving it set in a corner until I can obtain In my opinion, at this time it is not recommended. If you are just looking for a few 1 gallon glass bottles, and plan to seal them with a balloon, it might be a good fit.

It does its job well
4/5

Item was well packaged. Just to be clear, what it says is exactly what it means. The jug has an airlock and plug so that it is inexpensive for fermentation. The glass jug has a thin wall and as such is susceptible to cracking when bumped against another glass jug or if it is dropped on a solid surface such as a You shouldn't choose fermented teas if you want them! If the lid is on, the capsule will pop. It comes with an airlock and a cork with a hole for a screw top lid. As far as a cap goes, it only comes with the screw top cap and the For it to receive a full 5 stars, the lid would need to lock on and the glass would need to be at least twice as thick.

Defends what it stands for, and performs what it demands
5/5

It should also be affordable (and at a fair price). I'm not sure there's a lot left to say that hasn't been said already. Note that I roughened up my bung with a good piece of sand paper after reading other reviews that said it was slippy. As a result, sanitation is going to be even more important since there will be tons of places for bacteria and yeast to find refuge. Is there a chance I will Yes, that's right.

The rubber stopper does not seem to last very long
3/5

There is no problem with the airlock. notice that the rubber stoppers are popping out of the jugs. I've checked for pressure, but it's not because of that. It's the synthetic material that makes up the stopper that has been having problems. By any means, I will either be unable to remove it or it will sit on the bottom of the bottle since there is no need to press it in any further.

The jug should be used, while the bung should be thrown
3/5

My recommendation would be to avoid using the bung for the jug. As it ferments, it tends to slide out. The barrel fell into the mead as I tried to push it down further. After a while, it began sliding the other way (inside instead of out). Because it was sanitized, I hope it won't give off an unpleasantly foul taste. It's best to invest in the universal bungs that have a lip at the top so that they fit tightly.

The glass in the box was broken when it came out of the box, but that wasn't the fault of Amazon, and they promptly replaced it without me even having to ship back the broken glass
5/5

It has now been received and unbroken or blemished in any way so I can review it properly. It's a great looking Obviously, it is larger than 1gal, but it gives you a little bit of tolerance for measurement error. As of now, the rubber stopper and bubble lock have been snugly fitting and haven't moved in the first three days of fermentation, and I presume the stopper and bubble lock will continue to fit snugly.

The glass is built sturdy, has a medium thickness, and is constructed with a medium thickness. It can easily be sanitized with water and bleach because it is glass, and it is much easier to clean then a plastic one. The this is going to be my "Go To" for 1gal carboys for racking my Melomels (make sure to rinse with bleach after using)

Considering the price and quality, I will definitely use these again.

A different airlock setup should be purchased
3/5

A screwdriver is not included with this jug, so it doesn't come with a plug that stays in place It is capped. There was a problem getting the plug to stay secure in the neck of the bottle after I dried the plug and neck of the jug completely. Also, my mead is now vinegar because the airlock ran out of water in less than a week. It's due to the setup of the airlock. While fitting it to the jug, I had some issues with the plug not staying in place, so I filled the airlock with water completely. However, a large amount of the water pushed out during the fitting process. As soon as the airlock is in place, I am not sure how to add more water like you can with other Also, the airlocks are not big enough to hold much Due to the fact that the water is on the wrong side of the airlock and if it is warm, you might lose it if your stuff bubbles too vigorously for too long. It's nice to have a glass bottle, I would buy this same bottle with a screw cap and make my own airlock out of different parts rather than this kit once I realized the airlock belonged to the bottle.
I lost $18 worth of honey, so I would invest more if you are serious about honey. A better airlock would be helpful.
