Using this solution to store food in your small refrigerator is a good idea. Although it wasn't always true, it did happen from time to time. BREAKING UPDATE An airlock is built into the Big Mouth carboy using a plug aka bung with a hole. My experience with this product has been that the pressure built up from primary fermentation pushes the main carboy bung out before it pushes the silicone flap on the lock open.

The glass carboy I had in a stainless steel mini-fridge We read that this was a good alternative to an airlock when we started brewing (we were first-time brewers at the time)

With that out of the way, let's move on A second issue was that it didn't fit all the way into a 5 gallon glass carboy - there wasn't even room for the mouth. There's no power.
