In order to make a hole in the lid, you need to drill it deeply. Until now, I have only used these air locks to ferment foods like sauerkraut and pepper sauce. I found them to be easy to use and they worked according to the advertisements. Once installed, they worked flawlessly. There are no special features to these airlocks - just the usual features. Overall, they do a pretty good job. Because these grommets have rubber, they can be put into any food - this set is great!
