In the listing, size 6 is described. The size 5 (from a smaller size 6 to a larger size 7) is between the smaller and larger sizes. As I requested a Sz 8, I received a Sz 8 (which is much too large for me). There is nothing wrong with the airlocks themselves and they are made of hard plastic as shown. Also, the bungs are white instead of yellow or beige, so they have been returned as the incorrect size. ****Update The size 6 was sent by Amazon, along with the correct size. It is a good compromise between most of my 5/6G carboys and my 1G jugs. However, these were ordered through Prime and it took over a week to get the correct item, so buyer beware if this is time-sensitive. One star deducted.
The price is amazing - especially when you compare it to the competition The smell of rubber is strong. The stoppers and airlocks above are inexpensive, but they function Let them sit in a bit of vodka (for sanitization) and watch them bubble around. Growlers fit perfectly (1/2 gallon), and I suspect most gallon glass containers would fit as well, but I cannot be certain. One of my brews might have been contaminated by an intense rubber smell that permeated the rubber stoppers. To get rid of the rubber smell before I do the next round, I'll soak the shoes for a bit. The pros include (1) the price is right** (2) the work is good** (3) tight seal** Cons The construction is somewhat flimsy (1) A plastic case made of cheap materials In terms of durability, I am okay with them so long as they hold together
I would recommend them. The work they do is good, and the price is reasonable.
FYI, they are not glass. There seems to be some good durability to them. In the stock photo, the stoppers appear to be made of silicone, and they are much lighter in color than they appear in real life. The bottles you're using them in may not fit exactly in the same container, but I put them in 1/2 gallon growlers with no problem.
For years, I have canned but I have decided to embark on a new project. The winemaking process. Glasses measuring a gallon were available to me. But I needed the other supplies as well as the jars and glass jugs. I put them in the glass jug and they worked perfectly. As well as being used in gallon jar lids, I have also seen these used on To accomplish this, however, you'll have to drill a little.
It arrived These stoppers are exactly the right size for 1 gallon glass jugs. The airlocks are from Vintage Shop. Over the last 15 years, I've used a great brand. Tomorrow morning we head for Montrachet, and tonight we will make strawberry wine. wishes for good health and a bright future to all.
The Air Locks that I love the best. They're so easy to use and can be replaced if necessary. It's well made and a great value for the price. I've bought a few of these and will continue to do so*.
I am making homemade wine and the sound of it reminds me of babbling brooks. There is nothing else inside my ears but pure music. Simple to use and easy to Is an absolute dream to use.
I had no issues with the bubbler tops, they worked fine. It was the bases, however, that were exceptional. There was enough give in them to work with glass jugs of various sizes. I will buy nothing else.
