Right? I'm not an alcoholic, am I? In my order, I got some 2 piece airlocks that came with a large size bung (basically, a cork). Unfortunately, those didn't fit the 1 gallon "antique" apple cider vinegar jugs I have. Therefore, I ordered these with a smaller bung in the hopes that they would be able to fit That's exactly what However, there is a little-known but interesting fact The 2 piece airlock itself (without the bung) is simply interchangeable with the bungs on a All of them were bungees of a smaller size, therefore I used one of each. It seems that these bungs are made from fairly firm rubber (I'm not sure if they are made from another material). I was pleasantly surprised at how well they fit into my 1 gallon jugs. In my experience, the 3 piece airlock is easier to work with than the 2 piece, and is also made of a more sturdy material. My 2 piece airlocks are made of plastic and I'm terrified of snapping them One of them was broken when it was delivered. However, these 3 piece airlocks do not have that problem. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is in need of some help.
I purchased this item twice. For several months, I was confused about why the stoppers kept sliding out of my 1-inch stoppers. Several of the stoppers did not fit into the gallon jugs, while others fit fine. When I compared two of the stoppers, I noticed one was significantly more difficult to put on. Each is marked "The Vintage Shop No. " and both look exactly the same. There are two 6" devices, but they are not identical! I've got the softer ones the first time and they work fine, but the hard ones in the second order do not stay in the jugs. I had received soft stoppers with the first order and they work fine, but the hard ones in the second order don't. In order to replace the hard stoppers that I received, I need softer stoppers.
There seems to be no problem with the Airlock and the Stoppers. According to the product description, the product is". Food - #6 These silicone stoppers are of the highest quality. After receiving them, I realized they didn't look like silicone, so I went to the website of the manufacturer (The Vintage Shop) and learned they claim they are silicone. In terms of quality, the stoppers are comparable to silicone. It is disappointing because I ordered it with the understanding it would be.
Because the stopper is made of an extremely slippery material, it can easily fall from Even though I try to dry it a lot, it still continues to leak. It is okay, but the airlock needs to be replaced.
No mead maker should be without airlocks, as they are an excellent way to conduct fermentation.
A crack appeared in one out of every ten of the materials I received. Replacement was not a concern for me. It's always nice to have some around. You can never have too many airlocks that can be used!.
That's all there is to it.
