Questions & Answers

I'm concerned about the amount of sugar in the final product because I have cancer. Thoughts?

According to what I've read, the amount of sugar that remains in the finished product is very small, as sugar is what the scoby feeds on, so the longer it ferments, the less sugar there is. I believe that brewing your own vs. buying ready-made beer is a better option. By purchasing it, you will be able to better control the sugar content because you will be able to taste it throughout the fermentation process and decide how sweet you want it to be.

When are the flavors going to be added? During the steeping process, during fermentation, and before bottling?

There are a few choices. After you've completed your first seven days, Remove the SCOBY after 30 days of fermentation and start a new batch or put it in a SCOBY "hotel." After that, flavor your fermented Kombucha, bottle it, and leave it at room temperature for a day or two (or longer if you want it to carbonate more). Because your Kombucha will continue to ferment, this step is referred to as secondary fermentation. After that, chill the bottles to slow the carbonation process and enjoy your homebrew! If you prefer, you can leave your kombucha in the gallon jar after removing the SCOBY, add flavorings to the gallon jar, and let it sit at room temperature for a day or two before bottling.

So, if the Scoby absorbs some of the plastic as a result of leeching and the acidic tea, will each batch I make contain plastic?

Hello! Thank you for your inquiry; I would be delighted to respond. Plastic won't be absorbed by your SCOBY. They're packaged in 4 mil poly bags that meet USDA and FDA specifications for food contact, are BPA Free, and 100% virgin low density polyethylene (4). Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is ideal for storing food and beverages (especially those with a high acidity, such as Kombucha) and can withstand temperatures ranging from -80°F to +120°F. Without leaching, the temperature ranges from 148 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit. These plastic bags are used to pack and ship Kombucha Cultures because they are the safest and healthiest for both the culture and the consumer.

I didn't read the instructions carefully and covered my Kombucha culture for two days with the lid over the cloth and rubber band. Is this bad?

If the lid was only on for two days, the culture should be fine, but finish the brew with the lid off and the cloth and rubber band still attached.

This is an excellent kit
5/5

For a few years, I've wanted to try my hand at making kombucha but was afraid of messing it up and getting sick. I'll also admit that the Scoby scared me a little. This kit was recently reviewed on one of the blogs I follow, and I decided to buy it (after all, paying upwards of $3 for a kit isn't exactly cheap). The price of a bottle of wine at the store was getting ridiculous. I'm overjoyed that I purchased this kit! I'm currently brewing my second batch after the success of the first. From that first batch, I made a ginger/orange flavor and a strawberry/lemonade flavor, both of which are superior to store-bought varieties. And the Scoby will no longer be a threat! I actually look forward to checking it every day to see what new changes have occurred. I'm pretty sure I'll never buy kombucha again from a store!.

I'm on batch number eight! While you may not require this kit to get started, if you are at all concerned, these materials and instructions will be extremely helpful

br>br> I purchased two kits to ensure a steady supply, as well as a couple of 6-packs of pressure clamp Homebrew style glass bottles 16 ounces. Each batch of kombucha fills 6 bottles, which cost around $4 at the store, so 6x$4 (8 batches) = my kits have already paid for themselves, and I've had the pleasure of fermenting at home. br>br>Keep in mind that in the Pacific island regions where this style of fermented drink originated, people tend to drink smaller amounts at a time, as there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. I don't drink more than one alcoholic beverage per day, and I usually share one with my husband. This helps to avoid unpleasant side effects like gas and discomfort. br>br>My personal favorite recipe is tumeric, ginger, and orange juice, which I make fresh in my blender and add 1-cup of honey. During the second fermentation, 2 ounces were found at the bottom of the bottle. Also, if you wait a little longer, you'll get a 10-percent discount. Since you are down to 15% sugar left versus around the 30% at day 7, you get more of a kick/ less surgery than around the 30% at day 7, you get more of a kick/ less I prefer the bitter, beer-like flavor, but it's fun to try different combinations to find your own personal favorites. This kit comes highly recommended. br>br> Despite the fact that it led me down the rabbit hole of fermented foods (sauerkraut, pickled beets, and tempeh), So be aware that your family may begin to refer to you as a witch doctor:.

You're paying $55 for a set of excellent directions

, as well as $20 for the initial supplies The majority of people who order this will be unfamiliar with Kombucha. Please read the entire review to find out why I gave it three stars in total. For ease of use and tea flavor, I give this a five-star rating. Exceptionally tasty. However, I was on the verge of giving it two stars because the bottles that come with it are HORRIBLE. Because the necks are so small, putting fruit in the jars is extremely difficult. Surprisingly, none of their literature mentions these horrible tiny neck jars, instead opting for nicer, much wider jars that would be ideal for adding fruit. br>The directions are clear and well-written. A gallon jug, six dreadful gooseneck bottles, a starter solution, tea, and sugar will set you back $20. You're paying $55 for a set of excellent directions. I would have been happy with the 6 bottles if they had been very nice for adding fruit. But now I have to go out and buy more bottles because these are no longer usable; I would never make another batch and force 1/4" pieces of fruit into the jar one at a time. br>br>So here's the deal: This is the kit for you if you don't want to waste any time researching Kombucha and just want to get started brewing some. Just keep in mind that the bottles are awful, and you'll soon discover that you overpaid for instructions. br>br>My advice is to learn more about it and conduct further research. The only thing you'll need to purchase is a "starter scobie. " It's what contains the bacteria that kickstart the fermentation process, and it's where you get your starter for the next batch from there. If this kit was $20 cheaper and included better bottles, I would give it 5 stars for convenience and the ability to get started right away. However, this is not the case. But this kombucha, man, I love it. This is amazing. I let mine brew for nine days before switching to fruit jars today. After two days, I'll put it in the fridge. 3 days. Later, I'll make a video to show my kombucha as well as the jar issues.

It comes with everything you'll need to make your first batch of Kombucha in an incredibly simple manner
5/5

adhere to the instructions. It comes with everything you'll need to get started making Kombucha for the first time. It includes step-by-step instructions on how to make kombucha and how to keep it going for the next batch. I'm on my third batch right now, and I'm really enjoying it. You'll need to source your own tea leaves and sugar after the first batch, but it's fun to experiment with different teas to see how they taste. For the second fermentation, it's also fun to experiment with different fruits and spices. If you buy this kit as your first Kombucha investment, you'll be able to brew your kombucha indefinitely using only more tea leaves and sugar.

: I also made the following purchases:
- Since purchasing the Original set, I've also purchased glass bottles and an OXO funnel to store/ferment Kombucha after it's been brewed.
- I'm considering purchasing a second half - I also used a gallon glass jar to make more for my husband.
- For the next batches, I purchased black tea and organic cane sugar. I made the mistake of using Earl Grey tea. Oops. (According to several websites, the bergamot oils in Earl Grey can kill kombucha scoby. ) ) My scoby, on the other hand, appears to be in good shape for the time being, and earl grey kombucha is extremely tasty. It's well worth it, but I wouldn't advise taking that risk. br>br>: It's time to start brewing: It took seven-and-a-half hours. br> Kombucha takes ten days to make and two days to ferment. The second fermentation will take four days. After you've finished your first batch of kombucha, it's a good idea to start brewing another batch.
