I received poor customer service from this manufacturer. I've got the post for you. My Amazon order arrived within a few days. Having an Amazon account is a great idea. Assembling the item and testing it for leaks was my responsibility. As I was taping everything up in the threads, I noticed that there was a leak near the thermowell. As it turned out, it was dripping from the thermowell itself. When I removed the thermowell, I discovered that it had a manufacturer's defect in the thread, causing it to leak. As opposed to being a pain to Amazon about something so petty, I opted to email the manufacturer and get a replacement since the rest of the unit was fine. I stuck a plug in the thermowell hole and continued on with my routine. In the end, I was contacted by them the following day, who refused to send me a replacement unless I was willing to pay 10 measly bucks in To soften the blow, they also tried to upsell me some more "discounted" items. My request was nicely worded and they agreed This was obviously not the case. Please do not buy their equipment, for if they are not there to back it up, what, if anything, are you Thankfully, Amazon stepped up to the plate. The reason I continue to spend a small fortune with them is because of this.
As I have been debating whether to purchase the fermenter for a while now, I decided to wait until I have gone through a few batches. Now that I have just finished my third batch, I feel confident I can give an honest review to those debating whether to buy. I have always used glass and plastic carboys and big mouth bubblers when fermenting. I was equally pleased with the results using both. had never used before was a conical vessel, so I was a little hesitant to try it out for fear I would not In addition to watching every YouTube video, and reading every article and forum post I could, I also used Google to find out what people thought. Truth be told, I found a lot of different degrees of love or hate for the movie, but the positive reviews far outweighed the negative. took the plunge and bought As soon as I got it, I hung it on the wall and just took a few minutes to admire its beauty, as well as be proud of myself for taking As I put all the pieces together, I realized there was something amiss. A threaded spot was visible on the gallon marking side, which I assumed was for the thermowell on the other side (exactly in the same spot but on the other side), however, there was a 1/2" hole with no threading. me, I couldn't figure out what it was for, so I wrote FastFerment to ask if I should report it as The next day I heard back from them, and they informed me that it was definitely a bad product. They overnighted me a new conical to replace the one I had received, and they got this to me in time for my first batch that I had planned for the coming weekend. The degree of professionalism they provided and the speed with which they responded impressed me.
As for assembling it, it is very simple, although the directions could be improved. The box picture shows what goes where, so, just looking at it, it is easy to figure out what to put provide a roll of Teflon tape/plumbers tape. You will need to use this tape. In addition to the passes indicated in the instruction, I recommend making 6 or 7 passes around each male thread. So far, I have not experienced any leaks in doing it that I also found mounting the brackets on the wall to be extremely easy. According to the measurements I made, the distance between each bracket set of holes was 15 3/4", which matched up perfectly with the center of the holes on each bracket. As I have said, I've had 3 batches pass through my conical, and they've turned out well! This fermenter allows me to get rid of my previous need to use a primary and secondary container, which I used to do with my old fermenters. At the end of the primary fermentation process you close the valve, remove the ball, harvest the yeast, or dump the yeast, sanitize the ball, and reinstall the ball before opening This is the easiest thing you can do. Only two things have been a little difficult for me unscrewing the top cap and taking down From my point of view, the top cap is too large to get a good grip on, and that is being a guy with relatively In addition, the bottom ball does get a little hard if it comes into contact with liquid because the threads tend to get My solution was to put a towel over the teeth of the channel locks so I could use them for extra leverage. There are very few inconveniences involved with these. My favorite aspect of my conical is that I have two of them mounted with room to add a third later in the year. If I choose, I will make a conical sphere or cone. The vessel is filthy because I had just put this batch into the keg and hadn't yet "cleaned" it. (Please excuse the mess. ).
What's the reason? WHAT'S the reason? You can only solve the problem by going insane. Anybody would find it challenging to clean and sanitize anything through a 1-inch nozzle. If only I had a time machine I could go back and buy that fast fermenter. I've made two batches with this conical fermenter already and have been impressed with how much time it saves. The 6 inch lid allows for easy cleaning while the valve at the bottom lets yeast and trub to be removed without the need to rack For those who wish to complement the wall hangers with metal stands, I would strongly suggest them. The wall stand and the metal stand are both great, but I use the raised metal stand to fill kegs while keeping the wall stand low for fermentation out of the way. There was even an issue with the PVC valve (not really their fault), but it wasn't an issue for them to send me a new one. As a bonus, the Customer Service is also very nice. The second I buy will be as soon as the first one wears out. I'll only say this if my spouse (aka wife) allows me to.
