Questions & Answers

Can you tell me how big the pot inside is? If my current wort chiller fits in there, that would be great. ?

There are 11 holes in the inside diameter The thickness of half an inch.

Is this machine capable of holding mash temperatures electronically? Would it be possible to set a temperature of 149 in advance?

While you can set the mash temperature to your preference, there is a 6 degree difference in temperature between the two. When the internal temperature drops to 143, it will turn on and then heat up to 155 before turning With a double wall design, mine holds the mash temp very well, and if you insulate it, you should be able to hold the temperature you desire and not have to worry about 6 degree swings on the thermometer.

Is it possible to heat six gallons of water in one minute?

To reach 160 degrees with four gallons of strike water (depending on the ambient temperature), it takes about 20 minutes. As soon as you have cooked the grains and done the sparging, it takes about 15 minutes. For a pot of water to boil, allow 20 minutes.

This item was bought just now, and when I used it, I saw the message "E4 error dry.". Is there anything I can do to determine what the error code is?

In extract brewing, it is possible to cover a sensor at the bottom of the machine by dumping everything in before it dissolves. A hop sack or any object lying on the bottom would be able to do this as well. Be sure that no solids are on the bottom of the heating element while it is functioning. If you want to avoid this issue, you can turn off the unit while you put the ingredients in and let them dissolve. The switch on the bottom of the unit needs to be reset when you receive this error.

An excellent five out of ten Electric Brewing System with a Gallon Capacity
5/5

There is no better value for the money than this system. I have brewed about 10 beers using it. Temperatures are kept at a good level. The following rules apply when mashing Ensure that heat is not lost by wrapping the lid with insulation and possibly wrapping it with a lid. Using this method, you will be able to maintain the mash temperature more efficiently. The best way to fill the kettle is by using strike and add water to it. Make sure you wait until the night before to sparge and set the temperature. We rate it as a 2 out of 5 Before you plan to start brewing, give yourself a three hour head start in getting your water temperature up. The temperature of the sparge water I use for the mash is set hot enough to account for heat loss during the mash by using an Igloo I use to store the hot water. Using only one vessel, I will only need to heat it once. As I heat the kettle, I do my best to bring the remaining hot water down to the strike temp and then I mash in the remaining hot water. A 15-pound load can be handled by this device A big batch might need less than 5 gallons of grain but you can use extract to boost your OG if you do not want to use 16 pounds of grain. In order to avoid a stuck mash, rice hulls or similar are recommended. An average efficiency of about 70% has been achieved. As stated on the website, you should use a stand (roughly 14") to put the brewer on so that when you sparge, you won't have a tough time seeing into the mash basket. Barkeeper's Friend makes it easy to clean the inside of the kettle and mash basket. So that I would not miss any hard to clean spots, after the 8th brew I soaked the inside of the kettle and mash basket in PBW overnight. This cleaned up any organic matter, and I then washed the area with hot water to clean it. In contrast, the boiling does not seem to be strong or rolling. The pot is on a soft boil, but stepping away from it and letting it sit for a few minutes would not cause me any anxiety. If you choose to do so, however, you are doing so at your own risk. Boiling the water results in about a half-gallon of water loss per hour. Keeping the lid on is recommended to get up to temperature faster, but taking the lid off when it is getting close to boiling temperature is recommended This usually takes between 45 minutes and an hour It will take 60 minutes to bring the water Heat loss could be prevented with the use of an insulated jacket. It's a sturdy piece of equipment and I clean mine well after every brew so the stainless steel inside stays as clean and shiny as it was when I first As of yet, none of the beers have had any scorching issues. The burner has been caramelized but not to the extent where it can be noticed. It usually works fine. I make a great deal of use out of the system, it keeps the temperature pretty well. I don't have to adjust the burners constantly Clearly, it performed well when I got my hands on it for the first time as well as when I have used it for at least ten brews. I would recommend it highly.

I think the system is fairly good as long as you know In a nutshell, Amazon did a great job in terms of customer service
4/5

As I mentioned earlier, I had a shipping problem and they handled it flawlessly.

It's a pretty good system once you know what its limitations are. My rig now does what I need it to do with a few modifications (Reflextix jacket, my own thermometer, mash bag in the grain tube). Since I have too many brewing items laying around, modifications were easy I had everything I needed already, my only problem was fitting it in. PERSONALITY PROFILE Please note Br>- It's great that there is a preheat timer! Awaken the next morning to 162F water after setting your strike temperature the night before. You can save an hour by doing so. Please note Br>- Easy to stow in a corner compact enough to stow away in a corner- This is an easy task I find this to be a big deal. The dirty work of cleaning giant pots and coolers makes brew day an inconvenience and is not the most fun. The potency of this product can start a boil. It never happened to me, but to be honest, you do not need to get a giant rolling boil. There is 212F in the water around it and it is I didn't have any problems with that.
- This is a great rig at a very affordable price. Please note Br>- A great lid exists for distillation, and it uses the same condenser as the grainfather - if you'd like to experiment with it. The maximum amperage is 120 amps. 240 amps is a huge deal to me since I don't have wiring to support it in my brew area. The cons are Please note Br>- Taking an hour to heat water to 160 degrees and an additional 45 minutes to reach a rolling boil takes 45 minutes to an hour. There are some good points about 120 amps, but there are also some drawbacks. Florida is where I am. There's probably a much greater chance of a bear somewhere cold. Please note Br>- There is an announcement that it can make up to 5 gallons at a time. Although it seems logical that it may work but I guess you need to keep an eye on that boil because boil overs are fairly common. Personally, I scaled my recipes down to 4 gallons to negate this issue, and I'm fine with it. It can be a problem, however. Please note Br>- It is a bit too much for me to have temperature fluctuations during mashing. As far as we can tell, it won't start heating until your set temperature is about 3 degrees below what it is and will overheat by about In my own home, I use a thermometer I trust and turned it on when it started to go Even with the refletix jacket I made, there was little to no loss of temperature in the 60 minutes I stirred, so not a huge deal, but definitely a negative. Please note Br>- There is a tendency for the grain tube's false bottom to let through a bit too much. By using a grain bag that fits inside the grain tube, I eliminated this issue. By putting it on the outside, you will be able to get a CE4 code when you burn the bag.

It is a fantastic piece of equipment that I would recommend to anyone
5/5

A superb piece of equipment that I would recommend to any brewer, regardless of experience level. In the course of brewing beer with my friends for years, I've accumulated a great deal of experience. Although we have a propane setup that works well, we decided to add an electric setup so we can brew indoors in winter months. I have brewed three batches since purchasing the Mash and Boil a few weeks ago, and it works well. Increasing the temperatures with the equipment creates a better temperature control, as well as a substantially faster chilling process, since the equipment is configured perfectly I only have one minor complaint. The way the setup is set up, you bring your water up to your striking temperature, then lower your separate mash pail along with grains in. As soon as you finish your mash, you lift the mash pail up and it sits neatly above the boil pot so that you can do your sparging there (note that you would prepare the sparging water It becomes very difficult to make out the gallon measurement lines in the pot during this last step because they are on the outside of the pot You can use a flashlight even if the instructions say to use one. Only other thing I would like you to know (and it applies to most equipment) is that if you are going to use anything with a lid to help raise the equipment's boiling point, make sure to keep a close eye on it at temperatures near or During that step, we did not watch two of our batches close enough, which has cause our batches to overflow. Having a clean-up crew isn't a big deal, but it makes our jobs easier This will be more of a hassle in the end.
