It's fashionable, but it's not long lasting

Strike one was when I received the bookends that didn't connect. I tried to make it work by propping up the badly made end with something else, but I still didn't think the bookends were designed to hold anything heavier than a few magazines. I had a strong desire for cookbooks, but I did not keep or purchase any more.
