If you're looking at this fountain, you're probably after something a little bigger and more "natural" in appearance. I'll do my best to point out the advantages and disadvantages, but please know that we're very happy in the end. This was a great purchase and the perfect fit for our backyard project; it's about as big as you can get without having to build your own pond/waterfall, and Amazon has (or had as of this review) a good price; in fact, we found this fountain for more than twice the price elsewhere first, and it didn't show up in our Amazon search because it was categorized as an indoor fountain for some reason. It was only by searching for the brand name that I was able to locate it. I provided feedback, so by the time you read this, they may have made changes. Construction - br>br>Construction - br>br>Construction - br>Construction Overall, we are pleased with the fountain's construction. The material feels sturdy, doesn't chip easily, and appears to be fairly accurate in terms of assembly. I was pleased to see no chipping or paint rub off when two pieces banged together harder than I would have liked during setup. br>br>Outward appearance - Overall, we are very pleased once again. It passes the "glance" test, which means it does not stand out as obviously fake or out of place when viewed from across the backyard (note the wider angle picture I included). On a scale of one to ten, I'd give it a seven. This is a solid 7 out of 10, where 10 looks absolutely genuine and "real. " For a shippable fountain, a 5 is the best you can get. The LED lighting, which is easily visible and obviously not natural, is the exception to this rule. They did a good job of concealing the LEDs and wires behind the areas where the water flows the most, but I'm thinking I'll have to do some additional work to conceal them even more. Setup - br>br> This item arrives in a single large box with several pieces that you must stack and place. The entire lower tier of the fountain is the largest piece. I'm a 6'4" guy who was able to lift this and position it reasonably on my own. One piece of setup, however, will necessitate the assistance of another person. The top tier of the fountain rests on a hollow bottom piece that is boxy in shape. The tubing and power cable from the top piece must be routed down into that piece and through a hole in the bottom tier of the fountain, after which the top piece must be carefully positioned so that the notches line up. I don't see how you could do this on your own, but with my wife's assistance, it was simple. You'll also need to connect the black lighting cable that was routed into the bottom piece to a cable that's already inside the bottom piece while you're setting up. If you skip this step and then fill the fountain, I imagine the electronic components will be irreversibly damaged, so be careful if you're like me and rarely read instructions. Getting rid of the shipping materials is the most inconvenient aspect of setup. A colossal cardboard box and colossal styrofoam pieces The styrofoam alone is enough to fill a large residential trash can. br>br>Function is a term used to describe how something works. We've had it up and running for about a week and it's working perfectly. My wife had her book club in the backyard a few days after installation, and I had to force them to call it off around midnight on a weeknight because they refused to leave "but it's just so nice back here we don't want to go back to the real world," as they put it. " I apologize to my neighbors. The ambiance created by the solo stove (shown in one of the photos), the Edison lights along the back fence, and the fountain received numerous compliments. Two different people stated that they were inspired to rework their own backyards; however, there is one major drawback. This water fountain comes with a pump that is practically useless. It's so loud that it drowns out the sound of the water. It also pumps the water at such a high rate that this fountain sounds less like a babbling brook and more like a flowing creek right out of the box. I've included a video that should give you a good idea of what the sound is like. This is (hopefully) a simple problem to solve, as there are several pumps for less than $30 on Amazon. Personally, I went with a variable-speed pump that boasted a quiet mode. It's nice to listen to music at night. I put it on low flow and the sound is very nice, it can be turned up, in our backyard we cannot hear the pump motor, only the nice water sound, we watched a Red Robin take a 5 minute bird bath in the fountain, and I'm still working on adding boulders and a dwarf tree behind this fountain to fill the gap in the back. One of the LED lights failed, but the alpine company provided me with a free replacement, which I installed. Alpine Fountain formula foam is what I use. To keep foam at bay, use a cake remover and a Fountec Alegacide Clarifier. The water is pure. We are extremely pleased with our purchase!.
Then I opened it, smelled glue, and discovered it had been broken (cracked) before. BEFORE I BOUGHT IT, IT WAS glued. It was too heavy due to its size. I covered the crack with seashells because it was too heavy for me to return. Carolina mines have produced a plethora of gems. I am entitled to a refund, but due to COVID-related issues, I am unable to do so. Alpine is unavailable to respond to my phone calls (I tried twice before). Then, when I turned the fountain on to the lowest setting, it leaked from the top tier because the manufacturer had failed to properly glue the water tube into the top tier!.
br>br>I was worried about the size and handling it by myself, but it comes in three pieces (packed in a single HUGE box). The very first section - The top section is supported by another section, and the main bottom section houses the water reservoir. Setting up took less than 15 minutes, and filling took no more than 5 minutes. It has a very realistic sound to it, like a small stream in the woods, and it is very well made. The three LED lights it comes with aren't bright enough for my taste, so I added an extra LED light in the bottom section. br>br>Some reviewers complained that the motor is extremely loud. The pump itself is not very loud as long as it is placed at the bottom of the reservoir on the rubber feet that come with it. I did hear what I thought was the pump becoming louder, but it turned out to be the humming noise coming from the sliding door on the side, so I placed a piece of felt between the door piece and the fountain, and the hum went away. br>br>For such a fast-flowing fountain, keep the splashing low - I haven't had to add water in over three weeks because there aren't many water splashes. I made sure that the pump's adjustment knob was set to full power so that I could get the maximum amount of water flow. You're also more likely to get a hum if you don't fully open the flow on the pump. br>br>This is the best fountain I've ever bought!.
The fountain arrived on a wooden pallet, well-packaged in a heavy-duty cardboard box. Because the fountain is self-contained, it requires a flat and level surface to function properly. containing' The base assembly is extremely realistic, allowing the water to cascade over three illuminated water falls. The fountain produces a lovely splashing sound with very little pump noise, and it has been running for two months with no problems. Birds are drawn to the sound of running water. The level of detail in the fountain base is incredible, far exceeding our expectations and giving it a very realistic appearance.
My fountain is a source of pleasure for me. To protect it from the sun, I used Americana spray. According to their website, krylon uv spray isn't for wet outdoor items; perhaps they believe people have uv rays indoors. The two rocks that had a strange blue color were repainted. The blue was out of place among the other rocks. I used Testors paint for this project. br>br>I used this brush to clean the fountain as well as the inside of the water storage container. It's gentle and did an excellent job of removing the algae. It's a brush for cats. br>br>Don't give this item a poor rating because of the price; if it's too expensive, don't buy it. If you don't own it, don't write a review.
