I am not sure what the difference between a regular umbrella and a golf umbrella is, but as far as I can tell, they are the same. For our office, we bought 5 large Totes umbrellas and they fit perfectly, when closed, that is.
It is just as easy to use "S" hooks found in hardware stores. There is a problem with the length of the hooks. It is much easier to hang small umbrellas from the bottom instead of hanging them from the top.
