It is not as sturdy as a wood table, but it does an excellent job still. My counter had become cluttered, so I used this to declutter it. In my kitchen I displayed three shelves because the fourth was under my sink cabinet, and the remaining shelf was too high. top of the shelf is my microwave, on the next is my mini oven, and on the bottom is my rice cooker, and a few other things I keep around the house. The update for February 2021 is as follows I bought it in May of last year, and after about 5 pounds on the shelf, it suddenly came apart, tearing off each piece of plastic. You can see the picture here. I was pleasantly surprised by how easily this shelf came together and how sturdy it was. The material does not appear to be plastic. My favorite part of it was the music. My decorations have been on it, and it has just been sitting there. Two times I have dusted it, but today it was wobbly so I had to dust it again. This is strange given no one has even been close to After looking into the matter, I discovered that two legs connected the top and second shelf had completely sheared off at the junction where the two pieces meet.
