I don't believe so because they are extremely light.

Are real candles safe to use with them?

Although they are made of solid wood, there is enough room for candles to be lit. Perhaps votives could be used.

Is the grey really grey, or is it more of a dark brown?

They're dark brown, like the ones I have.

Is this the first of a two-part series?

Two candle holders are present, but no candles are present.

It has a rough appearance. Made in a poor manner. It is not well stained. From the wood, a chip. $25 was a waste of money.

I used it for something other than what it was advertised for. However, it's fantastic! The workmanship is excellent. The wood is very light. It was lighter than I had anticipated. br>I used it to hang my wedding broom above the bed on our bedroom wall.
