As much as I wanted to keep it, if I were to review the design and layout I would have accepted this. Afraid to give it a grade because of the strong mildew smell, but I would have given it a 4 star overall. The toy had to be returned since I cannot give it to my child because of mildew. The mildew smell seems to be a common complaint on Amazon and elsewhere. I would have exchanged it if it was an anomaly, but I saw several reviews mentioning the smell on other retailers' websites. There's nothing I can do about what's happening with these but I'm not willing to take any risks with my son. There are very few quality Judaica toys available for an affordable price, which is a shame.
I found the paint to be very detailed, there were no breaks or loose pigments. As I read other reviews, I almost passed on getting one, but I am glad I did. My heart is broken. A paint chip and ding in the wood marred the product. There is an error and the product description is out of date. The advertisement claims that you will receive candles and separate flames (as shown in the picture) but you do not. A permanent glue has now been applied to Kidkraft's candles to permanently glue the flames. There are really no words to describe how disappointed I am. As far as I'm concerned, it will be useful for the moment to teach my toddler. I received the item damaged and it didn't match what I ordered.

It is very cute, but I am sorry to say it makes me cringe. My first thought was it would dissipate, but after one night I had to put it in the garage as it was stinking the house There is a distinct smell of wood, paper, box, and everything else in the box. The scent of dampness makes it seem as if it had been sitting in a damp warehouse for a decade. As long as they can fix the smell, I will not recommend them.

As the wood is soft, expect it to look worse for wear if your children are young and " chewers ". We don't mind the flames not being removable since it's a young family and my kids get into everything they put.
