The candles do not have a scent.

Do I need to use it once?

Cleaning all you need can be done with one cleaning pad. Despite the fact that you can wash it after each use and reuse it if you wish, it is best to use one pad at a time so you can achieve the best cleaning results.

The handle of the duster must be connected to the duster. How do you do this? Despite my efforts, I cannot get the tongs inserted properly. ?

These dusters hold more than the blue ones and I am very impressed that they can dust my entire house with one of them. Despite having a large area to dust, the dust sprinkling system holds up well. After using this duster and my robot vacuum I no longer have dust build up. The dust even doesn't build up on the back of the TV. I've started changing my A/C filters once a month, and that has helped in removing dust.

You can use them to dust really well! While I did start with the 180 degree ones, the 180 degree ones last much longer! In double the amount of work!
