As this duster is such an excellent duster, I haven't added anything to it besides making sure the threads are tight. Although, I don't think it will be a problem to lightly mist it.
It can also be broken up with your fingers if you shake it outside. My usual approach is to just keep piling on, and it takes it in stride.
