Questions & Answers

Is there any way to clean it?

If you mean soap and water, then cleaned is what you're looking for. No, I use mine for dusting, which it does very well, and then I take it outside and give it a good shake, and it's ready to use again.

How is it that this item is still in stock to sell if it has been discontinued by the manufacturer?

Magic?

Is there any way to tell the difference between this and the California dash duster? thanks?

I believe it is the same thing. I believe they dropped the name "dash duster" in favor of "mini duster." It can be used for both the interior and exterior, but I wouldn't recommend using it for both. Make one for the inside and one for the outside.

Is there a storage sleeve for the duster so that it doesn't pick up dirt when it's in your car?

Despite the fact that Amazon was the seller, my duster did not arrive with the advertised black storage bag or the instructions mentioned in some reviews.

WARNING: THERE ARE MANY FAKES ON THE MARKET
3/5

In 2017, I bought a California mini duster from Walmart, which was fantastic. Sadly, I misplaced it. So, in 2019, I bought a replacement from Amazon for half the price; I was skeptical of the low price, but my frugal mind won out. This device does not function in the same way as the original. Because it was wet in the packaging and smelled chemically, the first one I bought was obviously dipped in some sort of wax coating. Because it was so wet when I received it, I had to air dry it for a day. It was fantastic and I adored it. It was a dust magnet in the true sense of the term. br>br>This replacement arrived DRY from this seller. It leaves a lot of red fibers behind, as many other reviewers have mentioned. It also has a poor ability to pick up dust. If you want to save money on a duster, avoid red ones, as they leave obnoxious fibers behind. You buy a California Duster because of the special coating they apply to their dusters, and this is NOT it. I'd recommend purchasing from a store where you can be sure it's genuine or at the very least of higher quality (the packaging should be wet). br>br>This is either a fake or California Duster's quality control is lacking. In any case, it's not even close to working as well as the first one I bought in 2017. It's a real pity.

- Oh, my God! - This little dickens arrived in a paper envelop for a shipping package, but he made it through the Samsonite apes, also known as UPS, in one piece! br>br>It came with no instructions, and the only thing that was wrapped in some cheap plastic was the head of the tiny unit, which was easily ripped off. I gave it a good shake and noticed there was very little material on the fabric unit. br>br>I then proceeded to give my dash a quick test and was left with residue all over the dash that I had to clean-up. because of the messes it made and the lint on my black dash "Enough is enough!" I exclaimed. br>br>Because of the lack of instructions, I've put it aside, as many others have stated in the reviews, and hopefully it will improve over time. At this point, I wouldn't dare to use it on any other part of my car. I'm going to give it some time to age and air out. out, as many others have suggested, and see if this flimsy, non-material head improves in any way. If this is the case, I will change the star rating for the product. But, for the time being, I'm feeling like I've just squandered $9 on nothing. Is this a genuine item, or did I get a fake? Given the experience and what appears to be of poor quality, it's difficult to believe. br>br>I will, in fact, update.

It's not a good idea to have black interiors
3/5

The dash was covered in red fibers. I have a brand new 2017 white Ford Explorer with a black interior, and I bought this duster to keep in the car at all times because black interiors are difficult to keep clean, especially when dust accumulates on the dash. But, this California Car Duster made things even worse, and I was both disappointed and surprised because it appears to be the "original" car duster, which many people seem to enjoy, but even after shaking it and laying it out on newspaper, it still left red fibers all over the car. I found that swiping the duster across the dash replaced any dust with hundreds of red fibers, which looked even worse than the dust, so I bought a new mini duster (a gray one from Carrand) and I'm much happier with it. I gave the red one to my husband because he has a lighter interior than I do and isn't as picky as I am. If you have a dark interior, I would not recommend this.

**** UPDATE ****br>********************br>I needed this same duster with a long handle

**** UPDATE ***
*******************
I made one out of a car windshield squeegee handle that could be adjusted in length. A half-inch PVC pipe will suffice, and you can get one for around $3 at the big orange box store. 00 (tax included). A drill and three zip ties are all you'll need. A 14-inch drill bit was used for this project. Take a look at the pictures of the handle that was made at home. br>***** END OF UPDATE ****
br>Many reviewers claim that the duster leaves red fibers behind. Read the instructions (photo), which say to "shake your duster vigorously before and after each use," and. . . before the first use, I banged the duster's plastic handle against the palm of my hand a few times to loosen loose fibers. I could see the fibers flying around because it was outside. If the palm of your hand isn't available, use a soft but firm surface. br>br>The duster does not require much force to work; just a light brushing will suffice. After a few uses, I'm no longer experiencing the red fiber issue. This is one of the best dusters available on Amazon at a reasonable price. My only issue is that I bought the duster to use inside my car, but my wife took it away to use in the house. I'll have to go out and get another one now.

Fantastic This is the second time I've purchased a miniature duster
5/5

My other one was stolen a few years ago, but I recently purchased a new SUV, which I desperately needed due to the interior dust at work and at the ranch. Before using it for the first time, I made sure I gave it a good shake. It removes the loose fibers while also allowing the duster to reach its full potential; it also improves with repeated use. It now works perfectly and fits in my center console, allowing me to use it whenever I want. I really like this product and plan to purchase a larger one to dust my house.

Interiors look great with it
5/5

You must put everything in a bag to keep it safe. I've had California original car dusters for a long time. I've been using them for a long time. They've always been a favorite of mine. I must admit that when I first saw this small one for the interior, I was immediately intrigued. I almost didn't order it after reading the reviews, which claimed that the fibers fall out easily and stick to the interior components. I'd never had that happen with any of the big California dusters before, so I took a chance and trusted my instincts. I'm glad I did because I've had it for a while and have used and put it away several times. Keep in mind that I work in the auto industry, both as a salesperson and a detailer. It's something I use on a regular basis. There haven't been any issues with red fibers falling out for me. I keep this mini one in a gallon zip lock freezer slider bag whenever I'm not using it. It does not include a case, as do the larger dusters. After using it, place it in a bag and press all of the air out before sealing it.
