In my case, I used muriatic acid ($10 for 2 gallons at Home Depot), and it cleared out the water tank and toilet of mineral deposits and removed sulphur eating bacteria.
This will not damage the rubber in the toilet tank or the moving parts. Those products remove mineral deposits from the moving parts of the toilet and allow the parts to last longer. The hotel is great, except for the fact that the toilet tanks were all extremely It took me a while to figure out whether it was rust or iron, or just plain dirt, but nothing I did would get rid of it. I looked at Amazon to see what cleaners they had and came across this one. The reviews were really good, so I figured I might as well try it. I actually put this in the first toilet I put it in and it was the worst out Although the directions stated to use half a bottle, I used a third of the bottle since I had three toilets to clean. After about one and a half hours, I confirmed that it was doing anything and was shocked by the result. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the tank! It was clean, not that it had been cleaned but it had been maintained! My jaw really dropped when I heard the news. I was unable to do so because I anticipated that I would have had to flush the toilet to remove any sediment at the bottom of the tank that would have collected there. The situation wasn't the same as that. I don't know why the water looked so "dirty. " It just went away. As soon as I saw the before and after photo in the next bathroom, I knew I had to document it. In the instructions, it says that the entire bottle should be used, but due to the size of the bottle and the fact that I had two toilets to clean, I only used half of it. As far as the rest went, I followed the instructions, stirring to make sure it was dissolved and After the rust had been scrubbed from the sides I flushed the toilet with a cheap (new) toilet brush from the dollar store. I took before and after photos in order to compare and I was pleased with the results. Okay, so here we go. Describe what has happened to me. My mom has been taking care of me for several months now, but I just went to my house to see how things are. It was all brown on the walls and the bottom of the tank. I hate it! After following the directions, I poured half of the bottle into the tank and stirred the water (I used an old wooden spoon to stir the water). As I walked out of the tank, I put the cover back on.
