To be clear, the Linenspa mattress encasement is not hot to the touch. Because they're currently out of stock, I'm considering getting Utopia instead, but not if it makes my bed too hot. Eek
Other reviewers have expressed their dissatisfaction with this book, and I agree with them. It certainly makes a racket-- It's a gentle sound, but it crinkles and has a papery feel to it. I'm thinking of getting another mattress topper to put on top of it so it doesn't stand out as much.
If you want to wash it, buy two if you're using it to prevent bed bugs from moving into or out of your mattress (or even just to protect your mattress in the absence of bed bugs). One that is permanently sealed on your bed (this brand) and one that is washed over it (a different brand that isn't water proof). While this is great for washing and drying (I've washed and dried it twice without losing any life), the washing process throws your washing machine around (because it's water proof inside), and the drying process takes multiple no-heat air dries, as well as all day of propping this open over furniture.
They're made of various materials. The box spring cover is thicker, similar to the material used to make reusable grocery bags. The mattress cover is comfortable to sleep on. silky. I believe the mattress encasement could be used in your box spring, but I would be concerned about wood splinters poking through the material.

I bought this in March 2017 for all of my home's mattresses and box springs, and we haven't had a single bite since then, and the covers are still holding up well nearly a year later with no rips or holes. This is a product that I will strongly recommend!! br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I received an email from Amazon regarding this review and wanted to follow up with another update. We haven't had any bites in March 2019, which is exactly two years after I purchased this product, and the covers are still holding up well. Some say that the bed bugs should have died by now and that the covers can be removed, but I'm not taking any chances!.
We ordered this to help with a bed bug problem we had earlier this year. I truly believe that it was because of these covers that we were able to capture the majority of them, and that we would still be dealing with the problem if it hadn't been for the covers. We haven't had a bed bug infestation in months. They're sneaky little suckers, but if you're persistent and try to solve the problem as soon as possible, you'll be able to eliminate them. We had to get rid of our couch, but we were able to keep the situation from spiraling out of control; however, it was hell for a few months. Calling pest control is a waste of time and money. They lack the resources necessary to permanently resolve your issue. It requires the use of these covers, as well as diatomaceous earth powder and vacuuming. Putting sticky traps in place I'm itching just thinking about those bloody things. sucking boogers, boogers, boogers, boogers They irritate me! Anyway. These covers are well worth the money!.
This mattress is extremely comfortable. It appears that the protector is intended for children who have bed-wetting issues. problems with wetting If you're an adult who wants to protect your mattress from bedbugs, fleas, spilled drinks, and so on, this is the mattress for you. Don't bother. Because this thing is lined with plastic, it emits a constant, loud rustling, as well as intense body-shaking. non-stop heat/sweat bouncing off of you stop. I'm not sure what adult could sleep on this, so I returned it and bought something else (I'm not sure why I strayed in the first place; it was my fault for believing reviews). Look at the photo and notice how the lining has a sheen to it. Does it appear to be at ease?.
Waterproofing is not an option. My daughter peed right through the mattress protector the first day I put it on her brand new mattress. Apart from that, I like the product, but I bought it because I wanted a waterproof protector, which it does not have.
This isn't a water-resistant item. It was okay after the dog puked on the bed.
AWESOME PRODUCT Very quick delivery! My husband is the general manager of a well-known pest control company that treats bed bug infestations, and they provide matress covers to their customers after treatments (which are not cheap and cost his company $60). He was the one who installed this cover on our mattress and was very pleased with the quality and price, even mentioning that he had to UNZIP the cover to let the air out, indicating that it is completely sealed at the seams!.
I recently purchased a brand new Tempurpedic Pro Adapt mattress protector because my previous bed didn't have a "sealed" mattress protector! On my $$$$$$ bed, this is a small investment. I used the Tempurpedic bed case, followed by the waterproof stain protector sheet, and finally the Utopia to encase my bed. My first concern was that the Utopia wouldn't be able to accommodate all of those layers and would be too tight, but it fit perfectly; in fact, I think I could have purchased a pillow topper and had enough room (but don't quote me on that)! The zipper is the best part because it keeps dust mites and bed bugs out of my mattress (ewwww). EVER! I've recommended it to at least five friends, and they've all said the same thing! NOW BUY IT!.
Because I suffer from a severe dust mite allergy, I purchased this. It was simple to get on and off the mattress, and it fit our deep 13" mattress perfectly. We can't tell it's on the bed because it's not made of plastic or vinyl. My allergies have improved significantly as a result of it.
