Questions & Answers
It's a thin cotton blanket, but not super thin, so it's not as thick as a quilt. In the winter, we use it under a heavy blanket, and in the summer, we only use it with a sheet.
90 x 108 inches are the dimensions and size of the twin. Cotton shrinks naturally, so this item is oversized to accommodate it. br>br>This is how a twin, not a king, is described. I'm not sure what the exact size is; it's possible that the above is a mistake. I've been reading reviews to get measurements and see how this would look on a king.
This blanket did not shed or pill at all after being washed and dried in the machine before being used on my bed.
Fabrics are treated with formaldehyde to prevent mildew during storage and shipping. As a result, it's always a good idea to wash new clothes, linens, and other items before using them for the first time. As a side note, acetaldehyde is one of the metabolic products produced after consuming alcohol, and it is responsible for the sickness and hangovers that some people suffer from. The risks of long-term exposure are similar to those of formaldehyde.

This blanket is exactly what I was looking for, and I believe that if you know what a pure cotton blanket is before you buy one, you will have no problems. In response to some of the negative reviews, I agree that the description of the blanket as "soft" is misleading. " A blanket made entirely of cotton will be stiff and scratchy - Not in the traditional sense of the word. The blanket has some stiffness to it, as well as some weight, though it is not particularly heavy. It's thin, which I expected - This, combined with the weight, provides warmth in the colder months while remaining breathable in the warmer months (which is why I like and buy cotton blankets). The blanket is more like a tablecloth, according to some reviews. True, it isn't that thin - However, don't expect a soft, fluffy blanket because that isn't what you'll get. It looks a lot like a hospital blanket, according to some reviewers. br>br>For your convenience, here are some details and measurements: I ordered the blanket in white, and it is completely white; I mention this because another reviewer ordered white and received ecru. The blanket did not pill after washing, and there was no significant lint in the dryer lint trap, so I assume there was a mix-up with the shipment. br>br>I'm using this blanket in a guest room, and if the description is correct, the blanket should measure 90X90, but it's either off or it shrank when I washed it. Note - I did not follow the instructions (cold water, gentle cycle, as much water as possible) to the letter. After being washed in warm water with other items and tumble dried on low, the blanket measures approximately 92X82 inches. The blanket falls about 12" from the top of the mattress on either side and about 16" from the top of the mattress at the foot of the bed, enough for me to tuck in securely. The queen size mattress I'm using it on is about 10" high, and the blanket falls about 12" from the top of the mattress on either side and about 16" from the top of the mattress at the foot of the bed, enough for me to tuck in securely. So far, I think it's working well and I'm pleased with it. That said, I bought a gray version of the blanket for another guest room with a queen bed, so I'll measure it before and after washing it, and this time I'll follow the instructions to see if it makes a difference, and I'll update this review accordingly. br>br>One remark on Utopia - I received an email thanking me for my purchase, providing tracking information for the item, and requesting that if there was any reason I did not rate the item as 5 stars, I should let them know and they would do everything they could to make it right. Now, because I'm giving the item five stars, I can't say how responsive they would have been if I had a problem, but I thought it was very proactive and customer-friendly of them to reach out in this manner, so I thought I'd mention it.
Our home in Florida means I wanted an item that was lightweight and well worth placing on our beds to provide heat, yet also a little touch of warmth-this blanket provides a bit of warmth to us in addition to being a bit breathable. Not only is the blanket very lightweight, it provides size - I washed and dried it, and it fits perfectly with some extra overhang, which is exactly what I was looking for - Excellent product!.
This blanket has been in my possession for seven months, and I adore it! Let me attempt to explain some of the discrepancies in the reviews. Some reviewers may have expected this blanket to look like other blankets made of different materials.
First and foremost, this is a 100% cotton blanket. Have you ever owned a 100% cotton sweater before? It's not as soft as other sweaters made of different materials - Acrylic, fleece, Viscose, and other materials may be used, but it wears better and lasts longer. This blanket isn't as soft as burlap or cashmere, but it is softer than most other cotton blankets I've owned. br>br>Again, the cotton sweater is heavier than sweaters made of other materials, particularly man-made materials. ones that have been created This blanket, too, is substantial. This blanket isn't made of Vellux or fleece. This blanket wraps around you and gives you the feeling of being wrapped in it rather than just keeping you warm. This isn't a quilt or a microplush blanket, either. Cotton blankets are made up of just one layer of woven material, so they're not as thick as a quilt or a microplush blanket. This is not to say that there isn't any warmth. This blanket is thicker than any other cotton blanket I've owned, with a tighter weave that prevents broken threads from unraveling into holes and retains heat well. br>br>Cotton, as one would expect, washes well and becomes softer with each wash (consider your denim jeans this time. ) ) I haven't had any problems with excessive shrinkage, and I don't keep it in a special place. It can be washed and dried without any special attention. Because it was oversized to begin with, shrinkage was not a problem. br>br>In the summer, this blanket was placed over the top sheet and beneath a quilt - It was perfect for the cool mountain nights, and it wasn't the big thick kind, but a quilt made up of bits of fabric pieced together. It's now above the top sheet, under a wool blanket, and under the same quilt in the winter, and it's working better than any other blanket combination I've tried before - with the temperature set to 55°F! (Ask anyone who has ever been outside. ) Layering is the key to staying warm, whether you're a man or a woman. Cotton's appeal stems from its ability to breathe - a sense of coziness without the suffocation that many man-made blankets provide fabrics that have been created br>br>A well-designed br>br>a well-designed br>br>a well The made 100% cotton blanket is a one-of-a-kind and delightful treat, but just as there are "cat people" and "dog people", they are not for everyone.
So far, everything has gone well! I was hesitant to order because of some of the negative reviews, but it kept me super warm when nothing else could. I was tired of being cold despite stacks of those silly, fluffy Costco blankets on top of my comforter. Don't get me wrong, those are nice blankets as well, but they aren't thermal and are better suited to lounging on the couch rather than sleeping on a bed. To keep warm, all I need is a sheet, a thermal blanket, and a comforter. Please note the following disclaimer: I live in California, where even on the coldest nights, the evening temperature does not drop below 35 degrees, but if you have this and a down alternative comforter, maybe one more blanket, or even two layers of thermal, you should be fine. I do, however, keep my thermostat at 64 degrees Fahrenheit because I don't like to spend a lot of money on electricity, so compare and contrast as you see fit. I'll be purchasing more of these for my children - I'm glad I didn't go ahead and buy the $40 blankets.
