The suspenders on my bed are adjustable so I was able to reduce their length to fit it. As such, you should be able to put them crossways instead of diagonally however, if you wanted to do that, you would have to shorten the crossbar. I would have been able to fit them if my bed had been full size.
Because the length is adjustable, the mats can be used with any type or size of mattress.
It is possible to clip the straps to either side, or both corners, Before putting the sheet on the mattress, you can adjust the strap so that it fits the width of the mattress. The straps will need to be applied in the state where the mattress is lifted a few inches. My preferred method of applying the adhesive was to apply one side of it, then push it under the edge of the mattress to stretch it out. The stretches should not need to be done again once you put them on the first time. It was difficult when I did the first one, and I was too lax in making the strap longer. My husband helped me with the second one. I thought about it for a while and came up with a way to easily apply the straps.
Clipping them onto the mattress when changing the sheets is our usual method. It is wonderful to have Bed Suspenders like these! Having said that, I did find a few flaws with this product. One of the first clips blew apart when I stretched the elastic band. Pieces of the clip flew around the room like scrapmetal. Once again, I reassembled the clip and it worked beautifully. Attempting to install the second set of clips accidentally caused one of them to fall apart in my hand. Taking it apart and reassembling it took a long time. One of the clips would not stay closed on the second strap. To prevent the clip from opening and closing, the tang that holds the clip closed had to be bent. In addition to being cheap, the clips are poorly constructed. As a plus, the elastic bands are wide and strong enough to hold their shape. When the clips were put back on, the sheets remained on the corners of the mattress after the reassembly.
There is a California King sized mattress with a very thick foam topper and the sheets didn't stay in place. It held the sheets, though I was skeptical that the claw clip would hold the bedding in place when my dog or I jumped on the bed or when we laid in bed.
