A bag filled with twigs and bits of leaves is pictured on the left. The more active part of St. John's wort is the FLOWERING TOPS. Be sure to put those into your bag as soon as possible. Here again, it's mostly twigs that make up this bag. There is no need to suggest this product to anyone unless all other sources are out of stock or too expensive at the moment. (That was the case in my case.
The orange flowers of this plant are considered weeds because they grow like mad all over, so the company must sell the products at a higher price to the extract and oil companies. This part of the plant (stems/sticks) must be used in large quantities to get the desired sedating effect. Instead of two teaspoons per cup, I need the equivalent of 20 teaspoons per cup of hot water and can strain it after steeping for four hours. Seeing as how all my eyes see are chopped-up stems (I use it for anxiety and sleep) it's not a very good price per ounce since I only see stems.
Having grown up in Russia, I understand and know what you are usually referring to when you say I opened the package, I assumed it was something else since it looked like there were a lot of sticks in it. Normally, when you harvest the plant, what you get are the tops of the plant with flowers, and when it dries, what you get are the flowers, small dried up leaves, and maybe a few stems (sticks). Most of the sticks are growing on the ground. There are hardly any flowers or leaves. As a result, the taste was.
My mom used to make this herbal tea when I was a child and I bought this product to recreate it. I made the tea my mom used to make with this herb, which was bitter and had no color, though some light aroma was present. The tea that my mom made had a pleasing taste and smell, and the same color as black tea. What I remember is similar to what I knew. I bought a product from this brand a second time, and I am disappointed again.
The flowers of St John's Wort are what contain the active ingredient. It was a mystery to me when I bought it, and I learned later that the flowers contain this substance. Please edit
I have not been able to find St. John's Wort loose herb around here so this is fine. There are a lot of sticks though, not sure this is very effective, I might try capsules instead but they are hard to dose if you want to measure it yourself.
Macerating St. John's Wort for the first time seems to work fine, but I read that macerated oil should be red in color, and the same is true for glycerite. Yet neither of these happened, in fact neither color changed. Could you please tell me why this is the case?.
It came Good price and I like the convenience of resealing Excellent quality was delivered I liked the convenience of resealing To protect the freshness of my food, I was able to measure as little or as much as I needed.
The dried herbs sold by Starwest Botanicals are of great quality. The quality of the product I received from them is excellent. I have also received calendula from them and have been happy with my purchases. In my opinion, the dried St. John's Wort will not give you the deep red you get from freshly picked and then infused St. John's Wort if you plan to use it for infusion (to make salves, etc. ). There's more of a yellow tint to it.
