Although I probably would have benefitted from taking, my problem had diminished so much that I had stopped taking it for the time being. My concerns were not if sweeteners were added to the recipe, I only wanted it to resolve my stomach issues. I suppose it just depends on what battles you are fighting at the moment. Although Licorice is a herb, I would expect to find some sugars in it due to its plant origins. The liquorice stick can also be made with this material. It has been a year since I started using this product. My favorite formula is the original. Getting off prescription drugs was a huge benefit to me. Today, I had to reorder since the taste is awful. At first I thought the package had gone bad, and I was about to contact the seller until I read reviews about a new formulation. Not only was the taste disappointing, but there was also too much sugar in the recipe. In the near future, I will be shopping for new products.
It was helpful for me to see the current information about the DGL extract, as it encompassed a complete explanation of the change in formula and your prompt reply to my query. Having just tried the new formula, my wife wishes I would mention that it is very smooth and pleasant in taste. Prior to this, it tasted a bit bitter and was sandy or gritty.
