These were purchased for my 10-month-old daughter, who suffers from exotropia in both eyes and must wear a patch for a certain amount of time each day.
Pros: br>Stays on wellbr>Doesn't seem to bother babybr>Patch doesn't seem to let any light inbr>Fits on baby's eye perfectlybr>Fun colorsbr>The patch sticks REALLY well on my child's face but doesn't seem to bother him when removing it.
Cons: br>Nonebr>br>Great product that I would recommend to anyone who needs an eyepatch for their child.
They're soft and not plastic-y, which I like. I don't like that they aren't as gentle on the skin of babies as they claim to be. I have to stick the outer edges of the patch on her clothes a few times before I even try to put it on her, and then I have to lightly smear the sticky parts with oil and water on my fingers. If I try to remove it without it, the baby screams in agony. I didn't realize it the first time I put it on her, so when it came time to remove it, I had to soak her in water and oil, and she still turned red. It was traumatic for her, and no matter how many smiles I try to coax out of her, she now sobs every time it's time to put her patch on. This is frustrating because the only reason I ordered this pricey brand was because it was supposed to be gentle. Even so, I'm giving it three stars because they're very soft and easily adjust to her face's contours. She forgets it's there after I've managed to put it on.
It's been a nightmare since they changed the adhesive on these. I've had these since 2014 and they've worked perfectly until about a year ago when they switched to a new adhesive. They are extremely sticky, which is dangerous for sensitive skin.
We'd have to wait a few days before trying again because she'd get a rash from removing the adhesion, which would last at least a day or two. Since she's supposed to patch for four hours a day, this didn't work for us. Instead, we went out and purchased a frame hugger.
I had no intention of ordering the "tearless removal" type, and I will not do so again. My daughter is required to wear an eye patch for four hours each day. After about an hour, these patches start peeling off, so we have to use several per day. The ones from the beginning are far superior.
The designs are adorable, and they stick to the surface very well. My only gripe is that my daughter has extremely sensitive skin, and when I take them off, she develops a red rash around her eye. I apply a small amount of baby micellar water to it, and it usually goes away quickly. However, we only use them for a couple of hours at a time.
My strong-willed 3-year-old was able to keep hers on thanks to these adorable patches! They stick well, but peeling them off isn't painful if you follow the instructions (stay close to the skin and move slowly). At the very least, my little girl doesn't seem to mind; Most days, she removes it by herself!.
I've been using those for my daughter; previously, I'd been using generics from a large pharmacy. Those ones are extremely easy to remove compared to the generic ones; my daughter always removes them, and we've only found adhesion material residue on her face on a few occasions. The only positive aspects of them are the attractive decorations and size; I will not be purchasing them again.
