To charge your toothbrush, you'll need the glass that came with it. The older models are incompatible with it.
Plastic would not work for the chargeable base, in my opinion. In addition, I believe that plastic would make them appear cheap. This tooth brush set up is perfect in every way.

While it lasted, the toothbrush was fantastic. I expected a longer life span than two months for $300 for two toothbrushes. The metal prong part on the pink ones appears to be broken from the inside and is extremely loose, so it will not provide adequate vibration. Even after a full charge, the white one does not charge properly and will run out of power after two brushes. Worse, when I called Amazon customer service about the pink brush, the representative said they needed to contact Philips first and would call me back after speaking with them. A week went by with no contact until two days ago, when Amazon CX left me an indecipherable voice message. There was no more communication, no emails, nothing. I was dissatisfied with both the toothbrush's quality and Amazon's customer service.
It was a great tooth brush, but I've only had it for a couple of weeks and it's stopped working. My husband's is still functional, but the part that holds the brush has popped up and it no longer works. So we spent more than $300, and mine is no longer functional.
It's a pity, because this is a "premium" product!.
Brushing twice a day, for a set amount of time, is beneficial. . . overall, a high-quality product that my dentist notices a difference in.
After a month, it ceased to work properly.
These are great because they make you feel like you've just gotten out of the dentist's office!.
I can't say enough good things about this toothbrush and the seller. This is an outstanding product that is well worth your money.
