At the dentist I get fluoride treatments every time I visit, and they always tell me to use a toothpaste called Fluoridex, which has much more fluoride than toothpastes I can buy at the supermarket. My problem is that it is so expensive that I had to stop using it (like $25 per tube of 4 oz). Fluoride is not contained in the gel of this 3M product. In contrast to Fluoridex, 4% of the solid fluoride is stannous fluoride. Fluoride that contains 1% sodium is more affordable but has a lesser level of effectiveness. Since I was not sure what the difference between the two types of fluorides were before I bought this, I asked Google and apparently stannous fluoride can stain your teeth but also has additional benefits.
