Questions & Answers

Is it safe to use this with a two-year-old toddler?

I'm a dental hygienist, and I've been using the sonicare for kids on my two sons since they were two and a half and seven years old. With the sonic action, the sonicare will do a better job brushing their teeth, reaching areas that the bristles might miss. Having said that, I would never let my two-year-old use the brush on his own; instead, I would brush his teeth FOR him. On their own, a brush like this can cause a lot of damage to the soft tissues. If you want them to brush on their own, give them a manual toothbrush and then go over it with the sonicare, which you should be doing anyway with their brushing because a two-year-old can't brush effectively.

Is it necessary to use the app in order for the toothbrush to work, or can it be used without it? (I don't own an iPhone or a tablet)?

You don't need the app to use the toothbrush.

What is the difference between children and adults in this case? Just the head size?500 strokes per second is almost as fast as an adult's 31000 strokes per minute. ?

It's important to note that the brush head and handle size on this kids' Sonic are identical to the adult's, and it has a grippy bump plate. It is, however, the same size as a grown-up Sonic. I had assumed it would be scaled down for the kids.

What is the diameter of the brush head?

It comes with a brush that is appropriate for an adult. However, smaller sizes are available. All of them can be swapped out.

Order the smaller HX6032 heads for children under the age of five
4/5

I recommend ordering the smaller heads (part number HX6032) for children under the age of five. You can keep the head that comes with this brush until they've grown accustomed to the large size of the Sonicate Kids brush handle and original head. The original head was simply too big for my 4-year-old.

Don't expect to be around much longer
3/5

We have two boys and this is our third. They aren't very long lasting. I was smart enough to get the warranty on the last one I bought, and even though it was replaced, it didn't last long.

UPDATED - This toothbrush was fantastic for kids! 1/7/2018 - **UPDATE** The toothbrush has completely stopped working, so I'm updating my review of this product
3/5

This toothbrush has been in our possession for LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS. My boyfriend went upstairs to my stepsons bathroom one night after hearing a constant buzz and discovered the toothbrush buzzing every couple of minutes. We assumed it needed to be charged, which was strange because we had just done so a few days prior. When he placed the toothbrush on the charger, the charging light did not illuminate, nor did the small buzzing sound that indicates that it is charging. We waited a few days before putting the toothbrush back on the charger to see if it would charge, but the little buzzing sound it makes to indicate that it's charging never happened, nor did the indicator light, but it did charge the toothbrush. My stepson's toothbrush wouldn't turn on last night, so he couldn't brush his teeth with the app. This is a huge disappointment because my stepson loved using the app before bed. br>br>I bought the coral sonicare adult toothbrush a few years ago and it's fantastic. My stepson and I were brushing our teeth together one morning while on vacation recently, and I made him brush his teeth for the two-minute timer as well. Brushing our teeth together every night before he goes to bed has now become a part of our daily routine. I bought him this toothbrush so he could have a timer like me and in case I wasn't home when he went to bed. The application is a huge plus! I wasn't expecting him to enjoy the app as much as he does, but he does! When he brushes his teeth, he is completely focused and follows along. When the timer goes off, I don't have to sit there telling him where to brush. When he's finished brushing his teeth, he likes to open the little present he receives on the app. This app is a fantastic way to get kids interested in brushing their teeth!.

For my ten-year-old daughter, it's perfect
5/5

Since using this toothbrush for the past three months, my son hasn't had any cavities. 4 years. I had to replace his toothbrush because the battery in his previous one had lasted about three years. He's ten years old and takes excellent care of his teeth, though he'd rather "floss" dance than "floss" his teeth. Fortunately, I'm confident that he's getting a good brushing at the very least. Bribe your kids with $20 per dentist visit if they don't have cavities to encourage them to take care of their teeth. It's a lot better than having to pay $500 to fill four of them! For the past three years, I've been paying him every six months since we started this $20 deal!.

The best toothbrush for children who have sensitive teeth! My daughter is autistic and has a mild form of the condition
5/5

Brushing one's teeth and taking care of one's appearance has always been a challenge. We were using a Spinbrush, but I use a Sonicare and have been very happy with it, so I decided to give these a try. She's a total maniac! It's a wonderful app. Sparkky, whom she has dubbed Fuzzy, is her favorite pet. She insists on brushing his teeth first thing in the morning and looks forward to brushing his teeth at night with him. She enjoys giving him "gifts" such as feeding, dressing, and brushing his teeth. We've been using this toothbrush for a month now, and I'm really happy with it! We were fortunate to get her to allow us to brush for 30 seconds before we got this toothbrush. She now wants to do it twice and three times!.

Very effective; however, the pressure should be applied with caution
5/5

For my 4-year-old daughter, I bought this toothbrush. We were having difficulty keeping our one-year-old daughter's teeth clean. I'm not sure what happened, but her teeth became very stained all of a sudden. br>br>Once we started using this toothbrush, we noticed an almost immediate improvement. Her pearly whites were gleaming and her teeth were spotless. I wasn't sure if she'd be bothered by the vibration, but she seemed to be fine with it. Sonicare's little musical alerts when it's time to switch sides are also a nice touch. When the alarm goes off, she still laughs a little. br>br>However, this is the primary reason I wanted to write a review for this toothbrush. Someone mentioned in the product page's question and answer section that it's important for parents to assist children with brushing with this toothbrush because it's possible to cause serious gum damage if you're not careful. I wish I'd known that when I first started using my Sonicare brush a few years ago. I have severe gum recession as a result of unintentionally pressing too hard with this brush. I've been told by several dentists that I'll most likely need a tissue transplant in one area. (Ugh, that's not something I'm looking forward to. ) )br>br>The point is that, according to the instructions, you should only use three fingers to hold the brush while brushing- If your child is too young to understand how much (or how little) pressure to apply to her gums while brushing, you will most likely want to assist her. br>br>Overall, this brush is one of our favorites. My daughter's smile has improved dramatically, and the brush is available on Amazon for such a low price that it is well worth a try.

So far, everything has been perfect and effective! My 7-year-old had been requesting a sonicare similar to his parents' and was overjoyed to receive one
5/5

I've already had to tell him to cut down on the tooth brushing: ) Arrived completely factory sealed with everything inside, as expected; the app is very user-friendly and connected to Bluetooth without issue right away. We'll keep you updated if we run into any problems down the road. It comes with a two-year warranty, plus an extra six months if you register online. (2. Total time: 5 years). It was also a breeze to register!.
