The first time I bought it was after I had an injury, but I kept buying it because it had so many uses. I have to tap the claw portion once in a while to free it when it gets caught. The structure is durable but the claw portion gets caught occasionally. It's not a deal breaker. The four that I have at home and the one my daughter has in her car are both of this type. It's because I use them for many different purposes, which is why I have so many of them. To grab things that are out of my reach, I use one of these in the kitchen. It makes it so easy for me to pick up toys off the floor and put them in the toys box. I could do that by hand, but with this product I can do it so much faster. A thin cord that it uses maintains tension is way too weak for any job and it is unable to keep any tension at all.
