Questions & Answers

Will my insurance cover or reimburse a portion of the cost of this chair?

Your insurance will pay nothing or nothing at all for the Forcemech, but that should not deter you from purchasing it. About 90 of the travelers were seniors on the cruise, and every one of them stopped me and complimented the chair. "Oh, my God, that's a Porsche for wheelchairs!" " "It's a Rolls Royce of wheelchairs." " In the elevators, I was doing 360-degree turns.

Is it ready to use right away?

Our Voyager is ready to go right out of the box.

If I buy it in the United States and ship it to another country, does it come with an international warranty?

All of our power chairs are backed by a worldwide warranty.

Is it possible to adjust the front side of the feet area so that it can be raised and lowered?

Up and down adjustments are available for the footrest.

It does not appeal to me; I like it a lot more than I expected to
4/5

In April, I purchased this chair for my husband to use when we are not at home. He is the family's driver, but he is unable to stand or walk. We had previously used a Shoprider Dasher (I say 'we' because I'm the one who packs and unpacks the mobility devices and assists him in getting in and out of the car). The Dasher is great for a scooter, but it comes apart into four pieces that must be assembled and then disassembled before it can be returned to the car. It's inconvenient, so I set out to find a sturdy, folding wheelchair that would fit into the back of a Subaru Forester. I'm a female with a height of only 5' 1". I'm only 5'5", so lugging 56 pounds in and out of the car didn't appeal to me, but the other options we considered either had poor reviews or didn't appear to be safe enough. And the Forcemech appeared to be pretty cool in general. br>br>I won't lie, I was initially dissatisfied with my purchase (and some of the things I didn't like are still bothering me, which is why this isn't a 5-star rating). The height of the seat from the ground is extremely important because of my husband's disability, as well as to make it possible, let alone not too difficult, to get him in and out of the car from his wheelchair (we use a Beasy Transfer Board and a transfer belt). The chair's height from the ground to the bottom of the seat was 19 inches, according to the website. It isn't the case. With the cushion, it's only 18 inches to the top of the seat. I honestly wouldn't have bought a Forcemech if I'd known that beforehand. Because of its size, we didn't use it for weeks until we figured out a way to make it work. br>br>Other things I despised (and continue to despised): Yes, the footrest can be folded up or down. It does not detach, fold out of the way, or take up any less space up or down in the front. This means that when I'm trying to get my husband into the car, I'm stuck climbing over him to find a place to put my feet so that I can pull him into the driver's seat. With practice, I've improved, but it's still not easy or enjoyable. I've considered using hitch pins to replace the screws holding the footrest in place so I can remove it, but I don't want to mess with it now that it's working. (We had to remove the cloth storage bag so I could step into the space it took up behind the footrest, which means we can't bring anything in the chair that won't fit in my husband's lap. ) It's not a major issue, but it's also not particularly exciting. )br>br>Unless I'm missing something, the only way to keep the chair from unfolding is to hold it footrest side up, but doing so will cause the folded back arms to fall and bang against the ground. It's an intriguing balancing act, but it's not one I've grown fond of. br>br>The battery's plug is very easy to remove. If you don't double-check that it's securely in place every time you unfold the chair, you or a loved one could get stuck if it pops out. NOT FUN. br>br>The fact that you must remove the back pad and cushion from the chair before folding it. I've stopped removing the back pad because if I don't, I'll be standing behind the car for twenty minutes trying to get it back on straight. Fortunately, the chair can be folded without the back pad being removed. It doesn't fold as flat as the pad, but you don't have to replace it. (It's also possible that without the back pad, the chair will not unfold as smoothly. ) I don't recall taking the pad off the first couple of times because I was too frustrated trying to put it back on straight. )br>br>Now, before you think I'm crazy for giving this chair four stars because I apparently despise and despise it, don't be fooled! I've been doing it for a few months now- and, to be honest, much to my own surprise- I've grown to prefer it to the Shoprider scooter, which I never expected to happen. Because of the following reasons: br>br>All you need to put in the back of the car now is the chair and cushions. That is all there is to it. The seat, battery, rear wheels, and main chassis are not included. It folds up quickly (though I wish it didn't unfold so quickly when trying to lift it) and the handlebars can be lowered without turning a knob. This makes it easier to get in and out of places and reduces the number of pieces I have to remember, which I greatly appreciate. br>br>Transferring my husband from his car to his chair is much easier than transferring him from his car to his scooter. The reverse with the chair, on the other hand, is an exercise in acrobatics and hilarity due to the lack of space for my feet due to the damn footrest. br>br>The battery never runs out. I'm serious. We've started using the chair whenever we go somewhere where he needs to get out of the car, and the battery is still nearly charged. I'm worried that by the time we need to use it, I'll have forgotten where I put the cord. br>br>The arms rotate completely backwards and out of the way. This is perfect for getting my husband in and out of his chair, and it also makes sitting at regular-sized tables a lot easier. br>br>We've only used this chair indoors and on cement so far, so I can't comment on how well it would work on gravel, grass, or dirt; my husband also doesn't trust it on steep inclines or uneven pavement, but that could be part of the learning curve. We're not opposed to keeping the scooter for the heavier-duty riders. duty activities, and a streamlined, much cooler wheelchair for day-to-day activities. br>br>Bottom line: If you can sit and stand from a regular-sized chair, you're good to go. This chair is ideal if you can lift 56 pounds on your own without risking a hernia and you or your faithful companion can do so safely. Give this baby a pass if you need assistance transferring from a chair to a car or other surface, and if 56 pounds is an impossibility.

So far, this is the best wheelchair I've used
5/5

The chair arrived safely packaged, thanks to FedEx. In less than 30 minutes, I had it up and running. Here are the pros and cons after about a month of use: Advantages: br>br> The chair is light, weighing in at 47 pounds with batteries, according to a scale I used. It is very simple to fold and unfold. The design is visually appealing and appears to be high-tech, and the construction is of excellent quality. br>br>I like how both armrests can be raised and swung out of the way when you want to scoot close to a table, sofa, or bed; it's very convenient. br>br>Cons: Despite the fact that this isn't really a disadvantage, the chair was initially moving at a rate of about 7 miles per hour. They claimed to be able to go 16 miles on a single charge, but they only got 10 miles. I called Forcemech, and they told me that the chair is actually powered by the left side battery, and that when it runs out of juice, I should swap in the right side battery. I tried it, and voila, I can now go twice as far. In future prints, the guys said they'll make it clearer in the instruction manual. br>br>Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. I am 218 pounds and 6'2 inches tall, so a head rest for this chair would be ideal, and the Forcemech guys said they got it as an accessory. I'm thinking about getting it and reporting back to you guys on how it goes.

It works well and folds up small enough for my travel needs
5/5

I used to have a manual folding wheelchair that served me well and folded easily for my light travel needs. I recently saw someone driving around in one of these folding electric wheelchairs and began researching many of the models and offerings available online from several manufacturers. I called and spoke with these dealers, and I have to say that Forcemech's staff is very caring and honest about their offerings. They suggested the Voyager R2, claiming it was their newest product offering and that it would meet my requirements. By the way, I'm a 5'7" woman who weighs 140 pounds. br>I'm glad I made that decision; the chair, in comparison to my old manual chair, is a beast; it's well-made and sturdy, the seating area is spacious, and the seat cushion is plush. I was able to walk around my house and the surrounding grounds without difficulty, even on an occasional trip down a gravel path. It does not work well on grass, but their customer service made that clear before I received the chair. The design of the chair is striking. catcher and I received numerous compliments while driving it around, and I was taken aback by the amount of attention it is receiving. I took the chair on an airplane trip with American Airlines and had no problems with the airline; I'm sure other airlines would be able to accommodate the chair as well. br>The joystick control on the chair is extremely sensitive; there are several speed settings to choose from; at first, I was running into walls and door frames inside my house; it took about a week to get used to. My caretaker could easily catch up to the top speed, which is comparable to light jogging. By switching to the non-powered chair, she can move it around. I normally leave the chair charging overnight and it always has enough juice for the day, so I have not encountered such an event yet. br>I'd also like to mention how fantastic their customer service is. I am extremely cautious when making new purchases, especially ones that are costly; I sent them numerous emails and phone calls, and they always responded promptly and courteously. I called them once at 9 p. m. on a Sunday, and they were able to get someone to answer the phone and assist me with my questions; they treat their customers well, and I hope they will continue to do so in the future. br>Overall, a fantastic product with a fantastic customer service team, bravo!.
