The item isn't functional. It is a waste of time. I followed the instructions to the letter and even went above and beyond. to see if anyone else is having the same issue. They do, in fact. The error message "Flo" appears as soon as I begin blowing into the mouthpiece. According to the user manual, this is due to a lack of airflow into the tester. I tried everything, but the message remains the same. It's unfortunate that they fail to inform customers that this item is non-returnable. "Always check the return policy for the third-party seller," Amazon advises, but there are no links or buttons on Amazon's page that will take me to a third-party return policy. br>Amazon let me down. If a seller does not accept returns, this should be made clearer on the Amazon page.

I carefully followed the instructions when I received the BACtrack Elements s78 unit, but it always gave the error "Flo," as many others have. When I went to return it, I discovered that Amazon does not accept returns on breathalyzers (presumably for health reasons?). So I called BACtrack for help, and they walked me through the procedure over the phone, and it now works! br>br>While the written instructions are unclear on this, follow these steps to make it work: br>br>1) Press the button until it beeps once, then release it. From 11 (why 11? ), the unit will begin counting down. Are there any Spinal Tap fans among the engineers at BACtrack? br>2) Take a deep breath when the countdown reaches 2. br>3) When the countdown reaches zero, wait for two quick beeps, then steadily blow into the unit. br>5) When the unit detects your breath, it will emit a single beep - STOP! DO NOT STOP! This beep indicates that the unit is operational, not that it is complete (as I had assumed). Continue to blow while it beeps! br>6) After a short period of time, you will hear and feel a clicking sound, followed by two more beeps, at which point you can stop. br>7) Your BAC will appear on the unit after a few seconds. This procedure worked great for me when I followed it. It's easy to use (as long as you follow my instructions rather than theirs) and appears to be trustworthy so far. It's nice to have this on hand to check when I'm out for dinner or dancing with my wife, or when we have guests over and they drink, etc. It's better to know and wait it out or catch a cab than to get a DUI (or worse). br>br>I can't guarantee its accuracy, but I'll investigate further. I'll write a follow-up review after I've used it for a while and can report on its repeatability. br>br>I gave it four stars because the instructions were incomplete; otherwise, I would have given it five stars (as of now).

I've probably purchased this device three or four times in the last couple of years. I received it twice as a gift, and when I lost mine, I replaced it with the exact same product 12 years later. Knowing that this device has been around for so long proves to me that there is a market for it and that I am not the only one who finds it useful. br>br>I think it's pretty close. It's important to understand that sending it in to be calibrated is included in the purchase price. It's the same as getting a dog: you have to plan on walking it. br>br>It's small, but I'd never use one of those keychain devices because the convenience of size doesn't help with effectiveness. It comes with a nice carrying case with plenty of extra mouth pieces. br>br> Before you use it or rely on it, make sure you read and understand the manual. Please don't get behind the wheel if you've had too much to drink.

As a result, this item is completely inaccurate, and you are unable to return it. I received it on October 20th and attempted to return it but was denied. br>br>When you drink two beers, you get a reading of. When you test it again an hour later, it reads 0 instead of 028. 00, which is a mathematically impossible number. I put it to the test on several occasions. br>br>Horrible! br>br>Lolbr>br> Horrible; if you think you'll be safe relying on it for driving or anything else, you'll be disappointed. Please don't purchase this dreadful item! br>br>It's unbelievable that returns aren't allowed.

They sent me a replacement because the first one was defective and kept saying "OUT" whenever we blew into it. During the first few tries, this one appeared to be working. When I blew into it, it read 0 at first, then. 17 for my fiance, which I thought was a bit high because he seemed sober to me, but I figured at the very least it detects alcohol, so it's not a big deal if it's only off by a small amount. But then it began to produce wildly inaccurate results. I began to blow a whistle. He began blowing a 2 when he was 13 years old. If it reads anything higher than 0 when he hasn't had anything to drink, it's completely useless to me, and it'll only lead to unnecessary arguments and accusations. My $80 has just been squandered!.

This breathalyzer is one of my favorites. It's small, simple to operate, and you can re-use it for personal use. making use of the mouthpiece I have extensive experience with professional breathalyzers and their use in a medical clinic, having worked for many years as a breath alcohol technician trainer. Based on my theoretical knowledge of the relationship between alcohol intake and breath readings, this device works exactly like the one we used in the clinic, and the readings appear to be correct. It's an excellent safety feature that allows you to determine when you should delegate driving to someone else.

It worked fine for five uses, during which time the readings were in line with what I'd expect given the amount of alcohol consumed. br>br>However, after about a half-dozen attempts, it stopped working. br>br>To use, blow steadily for about 5 seconds, after which you'll hear a double beep, and then a reading will appear after a few more seconds. Despite breathing into the unit for longer than the required time, the unit never doubles in size after the successful uses. There was a beep, but no reading. br>br>The unit was not dropped or damaged in any way, and the temperature range was well within the specifications (32 - 40 degrees Fahrenheit). Temperature: 104°F.

Accurate is a word that comes to mind when I think of the word "in When multiple readings are taken at the same time, the results can be quite dissimilar. Not at all useful. It's also worth noting that this item isn't returnable.
