It just so happened that I didn't even know about SAM Splints until I broke my ankle in Fat Man's Misery slot canyon in the East Side backcountry of Zion National Park. But I was able to put one on my leg thanks to a doctor in my group. Vet Wrap was in my pack, so I wrapped it up to reduce the amount of moisture in my skin In addition, I used a bandage on top of the splint to further stabilize. I then hiked out for 9 miles, which took 15 hours. I say hike because the terrain was extremely difficult In addition to steep ups and downs, rock scrambling and bouldering, and impromptu rappels off trail, my outing included steep ups and downs. My splint did not need to be removed or adjusted during the entire trip it remained supportive and comfortable (as comfortable as it could be), while my shorts were so shredded and fraying by the time we got back to the car that they were hanging off of me. /I didn't do it this time, but I might have cleaned my pants and re-done them After using the splint, it can be rolled up for additional use. THIS IS A MUST HAVE. In the days following my return from the trip, I purchased several of the items If you buy Vet Wrap at any farm supply store like I did, you can pair it with Vet Wrap cheaply. You can find it in bright colors on the roll of stretchy fabric. In general, these products are also marketed for human use, but they are more expensive. I'm pretty sure they are the same.
While I served in the Army as a Physician Assistant, these were the medical procedures we had to go through. This product is lightweight, easy to use, and easy to transport. They are an awesome option if you hike in the woods or explore, kayak, or do any other kind of adventure in an area that is remote from medical care. If you keep one in your pack and an Ace wrap on hand you can set and stabilize a fractured (or suspected fractured) In the same way that you should train on proper use of your tourniquet, there are free online resources such as tutorials to videos that can be explored. With prices starting at about $10, they are an easy buy for anyone A first aid kit for the urban environment.
Suitable for both temporary and long-term use, these splints can be reused again and again! For the case that I take a spill in the forest, I keep one in my hunting bag. Besides keeping one with me at all times, I have one in my truck as well. The are great for temporary installs to assist you until you can see your A couple of these would definitely be a good addition to have around, especially for hiking, hunting, camping, skiing, etc.
No knowledge is included in this section. It is lightweight and portable, as well as The tool does what it's supposed to do, providing you know when and how to use My first aid kit includes one of these Sam splints that I have carried around with me With a little imagination and a general understanding of splinting, you can use the splint to splint a wide variety of injuries. It won't fix your arm if you break it out in the wilderness and have no first aid training. Aside from that, you can use it as a cushion to sit on until the EMTs arrive.
SAMs are wrapped up in cling wrap, but there are little pieces of foam that fall off when the cling is removed. Although not clearly a functional issue, it tears off the measurement numbers and is obviously not an ideal situation.
The perfect addition to an Emergency First Aid Kit. The sets include training spools that can be used to train and then rerolled to put back into.
Every first aid kit should include these items, no matter if you're hiking, biking, boating, or doing anything else that might result in you getting hurt. Using sticks and stuff to make braces allows you to put your hands in a nice, clean, lightweight, durable, flexible, and malleable brace. The book definitely deserves to be recommended.
It would be great if all purchases on Amazon were as great as this. Promises what it will do and delivers what it will do.
