Questions & Answers

Can you tell me the size of the bag?

I couldn't even fit the 1 in them, they are so small. The 5 gallon container NTC Sanitation gave us in response to their "compost recycling" program, was supposed to be kept in the kitchen. One of the most difficult things was that they decomposed after 2 hours of being in any liquid, and fell apart when I tried to take them out to dispose of them, leaving everything all over the floor. My investment ended up being a bad one, and I ended up throwing away all the bags. If you line the trash container with paper, and dump it all in the compost bin (newspaper is compostable), then that is the best option available. Obviously, this response was not as positive as I would have liked, but Amazon asked me to reply, so I responded.

Do these products comply with BPI standards?

It is certified under BPI to comply with ASTM D6400, and it is certified for home composting (as they follow Belgian Home OK Compost standards.)

Can you tell me if these are scented or not?

There is no scent to the bags we have

The bags must be separated one at a time from a perforation, right? Do you have to remove the one you want or can you just do it if you pull it out?

There is no way to separate the bags from the perforation unless you separate them one by one.

Selected User Reviews For BioBag Compostable Countertop Food Scrap Bags, 3 Gallon, 100 Count

The seams easily split, and it is not sturdy enough to The packaging breaks down nicely, as it should, however, they are so weak that when I carry the waste to the waste bin, they crumble
3/5

It's impossible for them to fall out of bottom because I have to cradle them with both my arms. Weak seams mar the look of the jacket. My stomach churns at the thought of.

are easily broken down and leak after being filled with food waste for just a few days
3/5

This is not good! It's the same as every other 1 star review. I also bought a bulk pack of 3 gallon compost bags and gave up on it after about two months. My experience with them has been so disappointing as they leak and break after a few days, leaving a horrible mess in the plastic It seems possible that the seller sold us some expired bags that were disintegrating when the lifetime of the bag came to an end. However, I see similar issues being reported to a lot of other websites.

The whole thing falls apart immediately 0 is the goal A layer of 71 mil or more is required
3/5

Compost bags like these are far too thin, unless you're disposing of your compost on a daily basis or lining the bottom with adequate Initially, I thought I'd save a little money by purchasing online, however, the bags at the store were thicker (not sure what mil) and held up much better than the online purchase. I had to double bag and take compost out almost every day to avoid leaks, odors, etc. After almost a week, these bags started degrading, which meant leaks, odors, etc. I now double bag almost every time and take compost out almost daily. When I use other brands, I'm able to let the compost build up for two weeks I have been able to stay online for 3 days, even for 6 days without any trouble. It isn't worth the hassle to deal with this.

This is the perfect compostable product for the As long as you make sure that all food waste is rinsed out and that the moisture dropped in the trash is minimized, these work well
4/5

It is bittersweet to see them break down so quickly. There is no doubt that these bags were designed to break down in landfills to minimize petrochemical waste Our local pits are filled with chemical and plastic products. In order to achieve that, I'm going to have to be able to breakdown. Many of those products also take a very long time to respond. There is something I love about how quickly these breakdown. As purchasers, we have the responsibility to adapt our waste management process to the product. Our family composts, doesn't consume dairy products and only occasionally eats meat. As a result, this greatly limits the amount of non-emergency calls Waste that can be recycled or composted that we throw out. Based on this, we usually take between 7 and 10 days The time it takes to fill up one of these bags with a family of five is 10 days. that the bag begins to break down in four to six days once it becomes wet with waste. There are 5 days left. In addition to moving up the timetable to once every four days, I have also worked diligently to clean out all the waste I have been doing pretty well for the past 5 days. instance where the bag broke down very quickly (2 days) but this was due to thanksgiving guests who did not familiarize themselves with our workflow and dropped food into the waste bin. I can't hold it against them for not knowing our needs and wants when it comes to the environment, but it's nonetheless uncool.

If I had to redesign these bags, the only thing I would make it better (hence the 4 star review) would be tie tabs on top. This bag does not contain a drawstring, but it does provide 4 additional places to tie down.

Buy in bulk only if you really need to
3/5

It hasn't been a problem for us to purchase smaller packages of BioBag. We pull out a bag after another with a hole in it from this package. When purchasing in large quantities, it seems that BioBag has quality issues because the holes are in different places and there isn't an issue with the box integrity.

After one day, moisture starts to leak through
3/5

I purchased these bags so I could use them in a compost waste bin on my countertop. try to put only dried and cooled scraps of vegetables, avocado peels, banana peels, and coffee grains into the filter after they have been dried out Since the bottom of our compost bin is always wet with these, every time I remove them, I need to clean it out and let it dry. We were using Amazon commercial basic compostable bags that worked very well, but they disappeared a couple of months ago.

Provides a neat compost bin for the counter top
5/5

Clean and neat are important to me when it comes to my counter top bin, so I love these compostable bags. After I throw the scraps into my compost barrel, it can contain my compost bits for up to a couple of days. You don't have to worry about messy, smelly garbage in the kitchen when you dump them. There is only one thing for me to do after washing the bin and adding a fresh In addition, I find it convenient to keep an open bag next to my cutting board when I are prepping vegetables. Immediately after it is discarded, I place it in my bio bag, which is then placed in bins for composting. It saves a great deal of time and hassle in cleaning.

Bags made from compostable material can be found elsewhere
3/5

Compostable bags were used for the first time in this process. A compost bin made of stainless steel is lined with the bags. The issue we noticed is that they do their job, but we've noticed a few major problems It takes about 1 minute Apparently, 3 of the bag(s) that are included in the box are not made correctly, and they tear when opened. We may have just gotten a bad batch, but wasting 1/3 of the box is costly, and going forward we will be trying a different brand. 1. 2. There is a moisture in the bags. The sides and bottom of the bin always have a layer of liquid on them after we remove a full bag from the We are not sure if this is a common problem because this is the first time we use compostable bags. Despite the fact that we are careful to not add wet items to the bags, we do not want liquid to pool at Bottom line you can probably find compostable bags that are better. This box will be recyclable or compostable. We really enjoy the size and composition of this.
