Compostability is a problem
3/5

Disposable utensils such as these are easy to come by. I bought them for a large dinner party because we didn't want to wash dishes and didn't want to add to landfills. While these are "biodegradable" by that definition, you'll have a hard time finding a place where you can compost them. I couldn't find anyone who would accept this type of plastic in the San Francisco Bay Area. They do not biodegrade by simply sitting in a pile of dirt; they must go through a special process. Normal plastic utensils, on the other hand, may be easier to recycle. I recommend that you look into the different types of recycling and composting options available in your area. You might be fortunate enough to live near a composting facility that will accept these items. If you do, I strongly advise you to use them.

Cakes and soups will benefit from it
3/5

We've been without a kitchen for a few weeks, so I thought biodegradable would be preferable to plastic. However, they appear to require industrial composting, and industrial composted materials are not meant to be recycled. Because we don't have access to industrial compost, they end up in the trash. The spoons are fine, and the knife can be used safely. The forks are prone to breaking under any kind of pressure. Overall, it was a waste of our time. It would have been less expensive to use plain plastic that would not have ended up in the trash.

There is a need for more product transparency
3/5

Since the public has become more aware of the problem of plastic pollution, I set out to find biodegradable utensils so that I could contribute to the solution. Greenworks spoons were purchased from the Amazon seller Greenworks fulfilled by Amazon. The spoons don't look like regular plastic spoons. They are easily broken under pressure, but they are certainly usable. Wanting to learn more, I looked up Greenworks products on the internet but couldn't find much information or a website; all I learned was that the product was made in China by a Chinese company and that it can only be composted in industrial facilities, which most people don't have. On Amazon, I noticed a "buyer beware" warning that these products should only be purchased from "GreenTide," and that any other sellers could be counterfeit or fake. Does that mean I didn't get the genuine product because my seller was "Greenworks"? It's very confusing and a major issue on Amazon. Every day, customers are duped by third-party sellers. Due to the retailer's location in China, I was unable to obtain information directly from them. I'll never know the ingredients of the disposable spoons I bought unless I can find a biochemist to chemically analyze them. Obviously, Amazon needs to be more transparent, or else we'll all be suckers.

These aren't even close to being compostable! These were purchased for a large gathering for which we lacked cutlery
3/5

We didn't want to use plastic that would simply end up in a landfill. We composted them after we finished using them. They've been there for a year and a half. The rest has been completely dismantled. THESE FORKS APPEAR TO BE BRAND NEW. They are in no way breaking down. The same thing happened when we bought some cups. Don't be taken in by the con.

Compostable and long-lasting are two words that come to mind when thinking of this product The money was well spent
5/5

We've tried a lot of "disposable" forks, and these are by far the best. Because of their sturdiness, my husband compared them to Tupperware plastic, and he even hand washed a few!
Pros:
- These bad boys are super sturdy, so go ahead and stab a steak with them (medium/medium rare)br>- Unlike regular plastic forks, they do not bend or flare out. br>- hold up after being handwashed, so depending on the use, you might be able to get two uses out of eachbr>- When you bite down on them, they don't hurt (weird, I know), and there's no risk of shards (clear plastic) or turning weird and getting your gums (white plastic). br>- cons: it's actually compostablebr>br>pros: it's actually compostablebr>br>contrary to popular belief
- packaging is sturdy, but it is very tight, and there are too many small tabs to open. br>- br>br>Summary; A little more expensive than grocery store plastic forks, but a great deal if you catch them on sale, and a good deal otherwise. br>br> It looks like a reusable plastic fork, feels like Tupperware, but it's actually disposable, so it's a good deal.

Although the product is excellent, the shipping experience has been disappointing
5/5

I'm blown away by the quality of these. I don't like using disposable products because they aren't good for the environment, but when I saw these compostable ones, I decided to give them a try for a big party I'm throwing. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they are extremely durable and actually look better than standard, gleaming plastic utensils. The only issue I had was that when I opened the shipment box, the box containing the utensils was ripped and all of the utensils had fallen out, breaking some of them. Although, given their strength, it's difficult to believe it broke so easily during shipping. I attempted to break one myself, but it took a lot of force. It's also difficult to believe the box ripped during shipping, which leads me to believe there was a problem with the packaging or that it had already been ripped open. Amazon was extremely accommodating and promptly sent me a replacement pack as well as a shipping label for returning the damaged one. All of it will be photographed.

However, it is not outstanding
4/5

The fact that these are biodegradable is fantastic. The forks and spoons are fine, but the knives are a bit flimsy. Straight- Cutting is fine, but buttering them broke at least one of them. As a result, flexing the knives will apply pressure to it that it may not be able to withstand. A couple of forks have also been broken by me. It should be fine to use the utensils for picnics where the food is mostly prepared in bite-size pieces, and even cutting a steak should be fine because it is mostly direct pressure. And, as it turns out, I'm willing to go through a couple of knives if I know I'm not throwing away plastic.

It makes you feel good to use the
5/5

These are the items that I use most frequently. I use disposable spoons at work because I don't have time to clean up after myself. They're biodegradable, so I feel a lot better about myself than my coworkers because I'm not destroying the environment. The spoons are also durable and function similarly to any other plastic spoon - The scoop isn't strange in any way. I use it for cereal, soup, and instant meals because it's a standard scoop size. They function flawlessly - promise!.
