In the area where detergent is placed, there should be a rinse cup. In most cases, it must be unscrewed. I am not aware of the problem with older dishwashers.

How did I survive without it? As part of the manual that came with my new dishwasher, I was advised to use Finish rinse aid in addition to the In the end, you have to learn to live without it. In fact, Jet Dry really does help your dishwasher to dry dishes. I can certainly tell a difference when I forget to refill our energy-saving dishwasher's rinse aid dispenser with Jet Dry when it has a short dry cycle. The dishes are still dripping even after they have been heated dried (even when going through the dispenser empty) when they are put away after it is empty.
Pour it into the dishwasher and it'll work for you, but it's a pain I have found that the easiest way to fill the dishwasher is to use a very small funnel to pour it in.
