It's unbelievable how good this stuff from Shaw is, because I've never used Stain Rx. As well as carpets, it can be used on upholstery. Obviously this will have to be used several times but it is carpet safe, which is extremely important. After getting rid of the stain you won't end up with residue that might make it return in the future. This method does not work well on removing urine smell. To remove the urine smell, I had to alternate applying ammonia and white vinegar to the area and covering it with paper toweling under a weighted object to wick the moisture out. I had to repeat this process multiple times. It is very difficult to get rid of the smell of animal urine. Even so, I am confident in this product's stain removal ability and that I am using something highly safe and non-harmful on my BRAND NEW CARPETING. I have 2 old dogs who are mostly good, but have the occasional accident here and there.
According to my carpet dealer, this is the cleaner to use. The R2X stains-proof substance is also removed and replaced by it. The best way to stain a surface is to wipe it down with paper towels or rags. Use paper towels to blot again after spraying. Keep your hands off each other. The stain is removed from the paper towel by doing this until no more color is visible on it. However, if you have cats who vomit a lot, it is not always enough and I have to wash and dry the area first, then spray this over to replace the stain guard. I haven't looked at it on very big stains, like grapes or wine. Additionally, I found an old stain behind some furniture I had never noticed. There was a party at which someone spilled something, maybe cola, and I wasn't told. Once it was dry, this product did not get the stain out, I had to use two applications of Woolite, but note that this method also.

As I found myself using this product to clean heavily soiled walkway areas after I had the carpet steam cleaned, I decided to buy a new bottle of it. As for spots and soiled walkways, the old product did a great job. There is something rotten about this new stuff. The new bottle does not even mention the word "scented. " It has that Febreeze chemical sweet smell, which is very offensive. I wish I could find some old stock somewhere to buy the original product. In terms of cleaning, I suppose it still works, but I wish they would not have added the smell.
