When it comes to sleeping, I am a huge fan of noise machines. I've been using them every night for a long time. This unit was purchased as a backup to an old ipod system (5 "noise songs" on a never-ending loop) that was about to die. in the far future I also have a different noise machine that I bought from a different company over 5 years ago and use at a different location. br>The following are my thoughts on the unit's advantages and disadvantages:
Pros:
1. The unit is small and compact. Excellent choice for a small footprint on the bedside table or for travelbr>2. There are a lot of different "noise" options to choose from. Based on my previous experience with these types of units, I have a fairly narrow range of preferences for what noise I prefer to sleep to, but I did find a few that I enjoyed. This unit, more than my other noise machine, has a lot of options for kids (heart beats, jewelry box, etc. ), so I think it would be a good choice for families with children.
3. a good price pointbr>br>br>br>br>br> Timer function for those who just want to listen to music before going to bed. br>Cons:
1. I was concerned because the device is battery-powered only. I'd rather have the noise machine running all night. The unit should last 9 hours between charges, according to the instructions. Also, and more importantly to me, the instructions state that you must unplug the device after charging and before using it. For me, that would be taking the time to charge every morning so that I could use it the next night, as it appears that running while plugged in is not recommended. It's just not feasible. However, I am pleased to report that the unit is still running on only one charge after three nights of use (approximately 8 hours of run time per night). This isn't a problem for those who want to use the timer functions and only have the unit on for an hour or so every night.
2. Volume. I was surprised to discover that the unit can only be turned down to a certain volume level. The lowest volume, in my opinion, is too loud for those of us who want to place the unit on the nightstand next to us; however, if you choose to place the unit on a dresser, etc. further away from you, the problem is solved. br>br>9/27/2020 Update: I bumped up my star rating from four to five. br>First and foremost, there is the question of the charge. I used the unit at the lowest volume setting for at least 8 hours per night, and it lasted for 7 nights on a single charge. Instead of my original concern that I would have to charge the unit every day, I can now charge it once a week. br>Second, there's the issue of volume levels. The manufacturer contacted me and assured me that the next version of this unit would have volume adjustments that are lower than the current version. After more use of this unit, I've also realized that the current lowest volume level isn't nearly as problematic as I had assumed. I've been experimenting with different angles for directing the speaker side of the unit away from the bed, and it seems to help reduce the sound volume enough.
Crickets in the forest. It has fetal heartbeat and other features, as well as a USB charger. There are 36 sounds to choose from, each with its own volume control. It also comes with a timer that can be set for 30, 60, or 90 minutes, or it can be left on all night. The best part is that the sounds do not repeat themselves, making them even more relaxing and conducive to sleep. br>br>I took a couple of photos of it next to my hand so you could see how small it is. I'll definitely be taking it with me on my travels because it's so small. br>br>Once it's fully charged, you can play it for a few hours without having to plug it in- This is a pleasant surprise! The adapter (brick that plugs into the wall) is not included, only a USB charging cable. Definitely one to save! br>br> My white noise sound machine is fantastic, and it's from a reputable brand that I already know and trust!! Also, a fantastic price!.
There's a wide range of sounds, from fan noises to birds singing, so there's something for everyone. In the more white noise-y settings (which are all I use), there is no noticeable looping. It has enough volume to become unbearably loud if necessary! br>br>My main gripes are as follows: The charging light is by far the most prominent. When I first plugged it in and noticed the red LED, I was ecstatic. This is fantastic for sleeping! Well. It is only red until it is fully charged, after which it turns green. A brilliant shade of green. I'm glad they didn't go with a blue LED, but I wish it was red only or could be turned off. I guess I'll have to cover it with tape. My second gripe is that it does not include a charging adapter. I don't want to use it "unplugged" because I require the sound every night. It's a simple fix, but it's something they should have thought of. br>br>Overall, it's well worth the admission price and far superior to other digital units I've used. This is the first one I'm going to use instead of my tablet.
This tiny little box has more power than I could have imagined, and it will certainly drown out any external noises. When you hold it in your hands, the bass is so powerful that it literally shakes your hands. The volume range is ideal. br>br>I appreciate that some of the options are unique. So far, my favorite is the thunderstorm, which sounds extremely realistic. Controls are very simple. There are thirty, sixty, and ninety-minute options. Minute timers are simple to set and use. Alternatively, you can simply leave it on all the time, as the controls are simple to operate (even in the dark). There is no need for a manual. br>br>The only thing I'd like is a visual indication of which sound is playing, even if it's just a simple led counter. Just to make sure I'm listening to the sounds I like. However, the sounds that have piqued my interest are relatively simple to come by. There are so many different sound options (I believe 36) that you'll be able to find exactly what you're looking for. There's even a heartbeat sound that'd work well in a haunted house, lol. And the sound of a ticking clock transports me back to my grandparents' house. br>br>Because the box is small, it won't take up much space on your nightstand. It's fantastic that you can use it with or without a power source. It comes with a USB cable that can be plugged into any USB port, but no charger.
