It is dependent on when a package of Advil was manufactured to determine when it will expire. It is possible to buy two bottles at the same time and place, but if the bottles were produced at a different time, the expiration dates will be different.
Your child can take them as long as they are the right dose for them and they are able to chew them up without choking. My guess for why they are labeled this way is that some 2 year olds might choke on a tablet.

I gave this to my 4 year old and he was fine for a little while, then he spit it out and said "yukky". The kid refused the medicine, so I took it. I didn't expect him to want it, so I took one too. It couldn't be that bad, I thought. In this article, I detail not only my experience, but my wife's as well. I decided to try this because it initially tasted dry, like a thick chocolate drink. The situation is not a problem. It is then followed by a taste of grape. The situation doesn't seem important, but it's not as bad as you think. YOU ARE DAMNED WHEN IT HITS! It was bitter and metallic tasting, like a combination of a penny, aluminum foil, and the foulest tasting medicine you have ever tasted (for me, prednizone) with a super sour aftertaste. others in the comments have also commented that it was horrible. THE TASTES LIKE THEY TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORSE. In the same way that my son spit it out, my wife did the same. The painful experience overtook me and I got the pills down, but my stomach is in pain now. There is something really wrong with this We are going to call Amazon and Advil to see what we can do about this.
Chewables are the only medication my 16 year old son will take when really in pain from a headache. He doesn't like pills, and when he is really in pain from a headache he wants a chewable.
