The belt has a length of 68 inches. The drain pockets are easy to position because they slide on the belt. There were three drains on my body. It made things a lot easier for me. Because it is made of cotton, I discovered that it needed to be ironed after washing. However, I did so after I had finished using it. If the belt is too short to tie, you can easily lengthen it by sewing on another strip of fabric or bias tape.
Yes, it is possible to have a bilateral mastectomy with this method. Showering was a breeze with the mesh bag. After installing my drains, I was able to shower without difficulty. The wedge for sleeping was the only other item I required. Wishing you luck! It isn't nearly as bad as I had feared.
The Patent is something I'm not familiar with. However, I can assure you that this is an absolute "must have." It holds all four drains that I was given after my bilateral mastectomy and was sent home with.

I'll admit that anything medical makes me feel irrationally uneasy. I was terrified at the prospect of showering with JP drains. As a result, I decided not to purchase them. In light of my other clothing choices, I also thought the "apron type" drain container was redundant. When I got home from the hospital, I made the decision to get back to work on: I was doing some laundry when I realized I needed to wash my top with the drain pockets. I placed an order right away, and with the next delivery, I began the process of regaining control. br>br>In the shower bag, I placed the four bulbs. As a result of the well - attached and well-informed The bulbs and drain lines could be gently corralled in the bag with snaps in place. Instead of using the shower head, I sat on a bench in the bathtub and washed my hair and face with water from the spigot. It was a success. I wore the apron to wash my other top after showering and changing into clean clothes. The apron was not as comfortable as the top because of the ties, but I was able to sleep in it and move around easily. The drain lines were clipped to the apron pockets using separate drain line holders. br>br>Normally, I would choose black for any garment, but I would have preferred a more vibrant color for drains after a bilateral mastectomy.
However, once that was removed after 48 hours, it was no longer comfortable, and I needed to switch to a compression bra without hooks. The belt allowed me to move around while wearing the drains, and the position was well below my incisions, allowing for proper drainage. Also, if I had to go into a store or a public place, I could conceal the tubing. The belt was so comfortable that I even wore it to bed. The mesh bag that came with it was also extremely useful for showering, which I was permitted to do 48 hours after surgery. I was able to take care of myself with the help of the two, which was my preference. I didn't want my family to see my chest area until it was fully healed. This was made possible by these two products.
I had high hopes for the bag/pouch, but after using it for the first time, I have a few issues. To begin with, the strap was not very secure and required a tight tie to stay in place, making it uncomfortable. It was also quite insecure, causing nighttime movement. Every day when my mother awoke, it moved from the front or side of her body to her back, causing the flex tube to tug. The tubing area is supposed to be sterile, but the bag retains lint, so it was fuzzy after only one use, and it made me feel uneasy having so much visible dust near the tubing. Finally, the clipping area was inconveniently placed and difficult to clip without putting tension on the tube.
This item is so basic, but it's extremely useful! I only needed two pouches, but it can be used for up to four drains. Because the pouches slide along the string, I was able to tie the knot on the side of my hip, which didn't bother me when I was lying down. Showering was a breeze with the mesh bag. I simply stuffed the drains into the bag and had my husband help me tie it around my neck/shoulder like a sling so that the drains wouldn't dangle while I took a quick shower. I'm writing a review because I used to use a different type of drain holder, which was terrible. I felt compelled to write a review because this set was so helpful to me during a difficult time. Anyone who requires drains after surgery should consider these.
I had four drains after a mastectomy and reconstruction, and the drain apron made it so much easier to keep track of all the tubing and bulbs. Much easier to manage with all the tubing than pinning the bulbs to your clothing. br>br>The shower pouch came in handy as well. The strings dried quickly and did not absorb a lot of water. A length of thick shoelace was used in the hospital. like a piece of string that spits out a lot of water and is difficult to dry off. br>br>I hope most people never need these things, but I'm glad they exist in case they do!.
Because my drains were already attached to my surgical bra, I never used these and returned them. Nowadays, most surgeons will use a surgical bra with drain attachments, eliminating the need for separate drain holders. I didn't take a shower while the drains were in place, but they could have come in handy. Alternatively, you could simply wear the drain loops around your neck on a bungee cord, which may be more convenient.
Because that was all I needed, I only used the shower bag. It has a long strap that you can use to tie around your neck. Ask your surgeon if a drain belt is necessary; my surgeon only uses two drains and insists on velcroing them to the post-surgery bra at the shoulders to prevent infection. Although each surgeon has their own opinions on this, I never used the belt; however, the belt pockets are removable from the tie belt, which may be a useful feature.
This will come in handy in the coming weeks for me! The fact that the set comes with both a dry and a wet option makes me extremely happy. I tried on the wet one, and the waist band is wide enough for me to tie it comfortably. If it helps with sizing, I am 5'6" and 174 pounds.
