Benedryl, I believe, is the main ingredient in a gel substrate.
It appears that it had already passed its expiration date when I purchased it! Smh. The expiration date is April 13th, and I only bought it this summer. Perhaps in August of this year.
Calagel is best used as a first-aid kit. After inflammation has set in and an irritant has 'invaded' tissue, hydrocortisone kicks in. Bottom line: if you're only going to be away from civilization for a day or two, take the Calagel; if you're going on a two-week trip, take the Calagel. Take both for a day of camping.
It cannot be used in place of corticool gel because it lacks the "cooling effect" provided by the Menthol. It is very effective in providing relief from itching. Additionally, it aids in the recovery process.

My doctor's office told me about this product line, and I'm in the woods 1- Day in and day out, 2 hours a day - It's unavoidable that you'll get bug bites. Chigger bites are the worst (for me), and they can drive me insane at times. br>br>This is the first product that actually works for me. I sometimes have to apply a second coating to get through the day, or a second coating before going to bed, but it does the trick in terms of preventing itching. I also heal the bites faster because I don't scratch them. The best piece of advice I've received in a long time from a doctor's office.
It's just that we wish it was available closer to home. When I removed a storm-damaged fig tree, I developed phytophotodermatitis. Limbs. My arms, legs, and back of neck were covered in blisters. Before I discovered Tecnu products, I tried a variety of lotions and cortizone. However, I was unable to locate this at my local pharmacy. Even though it had been more than ten days since I ordered it and had it delivered, I continued to use it because my skin was still itchy. I believe it is beneficial, but not in the same way that magic is beneficial. Yellow jackets stung me in at least two places on my legs. This is something I immediately implemented. In a day, the discomfort was gone. I'll keep it nearby and continue to use it.
This is my fifth time dealing with Poison Oak/Sumac. I've previously used TECNU products and will do so again this week. This third product, on the other hand, immediately relieved the burning and itching. Keep in mind that it's been five days since I was exposed to Poison Oak, but I believe it would have relieved the pain sooner. (It arrived today. ) If you know you've been exposed, their scrub is excellent. Unfortunately, I never manage to do so. Scrub will keep it from spreading until the second day, when the oils have broken down. I've had to take the steroid pak twice because of their products. The scrub was packaged in a small bottle. I am very happy.
My husband and I were clearing weeds from their fence because they live on a farm out in the country. I became infected with poison ivy and developed a rash. For the first few days, I thought I was being bitten by bugs. When we returned to my parents' house, my father informed me that I was infected with poison ivy. I tried a few different things to stop the itching and rash, but each day I awoke with a couple more spots on my arms. So I went to Amazon and started looking for medicated that would get rid of the poison ivy, and I ended up buying the TECNU CalaGel. I put it on the first night and slept through the night without waking up or inching. So I put it on in the morning and at night, and it warms up and gains an inch. A fantastic product, so I ordered a second one tonight and had it delivered to my parents' house in case I come into contact with poison ivy. This item is something I would recommend. This is fantastic.
Poison ivy causes severe allergic reactions in me. Unfortunately, I have every variety in my yard, so I decided to add this to my arsenal. This product was particularly effective when used in conjunction with the Tecnu Extreme Scrub. I rarely get a red bump after using their products, and I used to have to go to Urgent Care all the time.
We live on a property with poison oak and sumac, so my husband would work outside trimming trees or cleaning the property, knowing he'd get a rash in a couple days, so I looked for a product that would help. He always got it pretty bad and very frequently, so he'd put this product on his skin where he thought he'd come into contact with poison oak just to prevent, and it worked the best for him, compared to other products.
It's not easy to come by in stores. Nothing else works for me when it comes to getting rid of bug bite itch. Always have one with you. By a long shot, this product is superior to the competition.
My daughter is extremely sensitive to poison ivy, and this is the only way to prevent it from spreading throughout her body. If we do get it, it also brings us relief.
