Every fall, winter, and early spring day, I look forward to sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee, reading the news on my iPad, and soaking up the benefits of my Happy Light. It's a joy to use the new Happy Light Touch model. It's small, but it packs a punch, and it's also simple to operate. The ability to customize the color and brightness of the light is something I really appreciate. I feel comfortable leaving it out at all times because of the sleek design. While it is portable and light, it has a substantial and well-made feel to it.
As a therapist, I've worked with patients who have experienced mood swings as a result of the changing seasons over the years. When the days get shorter and the sky gets more overcast, many people's moods change, and I often recommend that they start using a light therapy light in late autumn. The lights that were available were frequently large and costly, but the Verilux HappyLight Touch is a game changer. To begin with, it is made by a reputable company with a long track record. This light has a small footprint and can be easily placed on a desk or table in small spaces. You can adjust the brightness and color of the light for comfort, and you can figure out what works best for you. Obviously, if you suffer from a major depressive disorder or another diagnosed mood disorder, you should consult with your doctor or therapist before beginning light therapy. I live in Ohio, where there is very little sun during the fall and winter, so this lamp adds the bright light that helps the "sad" winter blues. However, if you know that every year as the days get shorter and there are fewer bright days, you start to feel down, sad, and moody for no apparent reason, this light may be worth a try.
This is the first time I've used a Happy Light, and I'm blown away by how well it works! In my home office, I have a small corner desk, and this light is slender. compact - It is a perfect match. When I'm feeling a little sluggish, I turn on my light, and my focus and energy immediately improve. It's incredible! I also appreciate the ability to change the color and brightness of the light. My husband uses it as well, and he prefers a different color/brightness combination, so the fact that we can customize it is fantastic; I plan to buy a few more of these as Christmas gifts for family.
Short days and a lot of clouds and rain characterize a Pacific Northwest winter. I've experimented with a variety of lights. This is the first LED you'll see. It travels well, and the brightness and color temperature controls make it a significant upgrade over previous models. Warmer and dimmer first thing in the morning, but as I finish my first cup of coffee, I switch to a full-on brightness with a cooler light temperature.
CAVEAT: I don't suffer from a severe case of SAD that necessitates treatment. As DST ends and the light fades, the once bright world takes on a pallid specter. My energy levels plummet, and the activities I used to enjoy become unappealing; I hibernate, unwilling to leave the house in order to wait out the season. I decided that wishing half of the year away was not a good way to deal with the situation. Despite my skepticism at the time, I decided to try light therapy. After doing some research, I discovered that science backs up light therapy as a viable treatment for SAD. A 10,000 lux lamp with variable color and brightness for individual comfort, as well as a large surface area so you don't have to sit in front of it all day, is recommended by the guidelines. I chose the new simple-to-use system. Use the VERILUX Touch Happy Light, which has easy-to-use touch controls. the gold standard in light therapy It fulfilled all of the requirements. I was impressed by the build quality, the way it looked and felt, and the attractive light panel that distributes light evenly and without "hotspots. " I put it to the test for two weeks and gradually noticed an improvement in my mood and energy levels. The effect is subtle at first, but it's noticeable once you get used to it. I use it at my workstation or while reading because the light must enter your eyes indirectly. I would strongly advise you to try the VERILUX.
I tried another light and determined that it offered the best value based on the following two factors: br>br>1) The design is simple and effective; it fits on the side of my monitor on my desk; 2) The two types of light and three brightness levels allowed me to test and tailor the light to my preferences for optimal results.
