Yes, I had a difficult time with it as well. The center must be firmly held down, then the lid must be firmly closed. Those were the steps I took to remove the lid or top, if I remember correctly. Here is what I hope will help you.
If you spray it directly in the area where you don't want mice, you can place cotton balls in the area where mice came in or spray it on cotton balls. My peppermint oil is put into a spray container and I spray it in my storage unit, in the garage, in cabinets, around my car, especially around the engine, where squirrels have eaten through the plastic on the wiring, all places where squirrels won't go!

My last two orders were poisoned by NOW Foods. They are typically reliable, but my last two orders have been a small amount of the pure oil directly onto my skin and it made no difference to me. My direct contact with NOW for answers will be forthcoming, but I will not be buying from this supplier again until I uncover the problem. Sorry to hear that.
Here are the good things first. It's good to have oils of Now as well as this one. The two packs I got were nice. I got a bottle of Peppermint Oil as usual and it was good as I will now tell you the bad news. A very bitter, stinky, and unpleasant smell comes from the second bottle. There's something about that I don't like. How is that possible now that oil is being used? There was the same horrible smell in a bottle of clove oil I got. This is the first bottle of Clove that I have tried and I really like it. YUCK! Here is the next one! In the future, I do not think I will order Now oils.
NOW is the third time I have ordered oil from them. I had very high expectations for this but it was a total disappointment. I expected something similar to the original peppermint scent I loved from NOW oil. It smells bad without being mixed with other oils, but mixing it with other oils gives it a pleasant scent. As far as expiration dates and packaging are concerned, I found them to be valid. There must be a reason why this scent isn't as good as it should be. The original was so good that I ordered two, but the color here is a little different.
A good way to keep bugs at bay! For the first time in two years, I haven't needed to use off spray! Several kinds of insects don't like it, including mosquitoes, bees, flies and ants. Using approximately 3 capfuls to 6 oz of water, I mix and spray the netting around my table, as well as my chairs and umbrella. So then I can sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy myself without being afraid of pestilences!.
There was no peppermint smell to this. As a former customer of NOW brand peppermint essential oils, I really enjoyed the smell of the crisp, bright peppermint. Sadly, the bottle smelled weird this time, definitely NOT the fresh crisp peppermint that we have come to expect. I am disappointed. Other brands are on our list to try.
The original peppermint smell of NOW is not present in this fragrance. The smell of the original NOW peppermint oil vs. the one I just received today is very different, as I still have some leftovers. It is so disappointing that this two-star hotel can't live up to its reputation Despite the claim on the label, the peppermint oil is not 100 percent pure peppermint oil. As part of this 2-part series I highly recommend not using this product since it does not smell like peppermint at all, it does not smell like peppermint oil. I don't think it's worth the price you charged.
The mice weren't encouraging after we caught one. I heard you can put a drop of peppermint oil on a cotton ball and place it where the mice are likely to enter. I started putting it in the diffuser since our house has far too many places for it. We have not seen or heard any mice in over a week. I bought two bottles just in case. Our system runs every other day or every other week. In addition to adding vanilla oil, we all enjoy the smell of it, as well! But I am not sure about the quality of the material to be used on the body.
On the label of the oil, there is no indication of its carrier oil. If I use too many drops (15), I find that the plugs in my electric diffusers get clogged. In order to use this particular oil, I have to wash my diffusers after each use. The price for the volume is great, but the odor has been diluted, which makes me think that the scent has been weakened.
