It is heavy duty, comes cleaned and painted (if you get the black), and each part is packaged separately The last two DIY projects I've done with pipe fittings involved pipe fittings. They both took several hours (figuring out the design, making sure the pieces are the same size, etc) as well as money (parts are not I paid less for this rack than I would have if I purchased the parts myself, and it came built! It is crudely cut and difficult It would have been easier to assemble if we had a vise and pipe wrench. While I used a small amount of grease to help the process, I could not completely seat the threaded pipe sections. After two days of trying, my wife and I settled for partially sitting As such, this is an extremely well-constructed unit that should last for a very long time. Sections were wrapped individually with an acceptable amount of tool marks. Please be aware Fedex shipped the package to my town and rode it around for two days on an overcrowded truck before they finally delivered.
